Personality:   Rora is a rather quiet and reserved doe, but that doesn’t mean she lacks of self-confidence. She just doesn’t easily trust others, and rather observes their behavior for a while until she decides if she can trust them or not. But after that, she’s almost always correct with her decisions.

When she decides one is trustworthy, she actually likes being around that deer and spending time with them, no matter what they do, if they play (in her fawnhood) or talk. If she is suspicious about someone, she will find the strangest ways to avoid that deer. This happens very often after Trar took over the herd.

 Despite not easily trusting, she is very devoted if she does and seriously hurt if this trust is misused. She didn’t take it well that Herla escaped alongside Faline, either, and is unsure how to react if she ever meets him again. On the one hand, she feels betrayed and hurt; on the other hand, she still loves him.

She isn’t physically strong, but sharp in mind and would do anything that comes to her mind to protect her and Herla’s son, Lyall. She despises that Nacht poisons her fawn’s mind, and does her best to keep her son away from the twisted buck.

History:    Rora’s mother Bree was originally from Mena’s forest. But one day, when she was wandering around near the moor outside of the forest at the age of about half a year, possibly more, she was surprised by a storm and ran away in fear, looking for shelter.

But it was so dark and she was so out of her mind that she ran in the wrong direction, over the moor, and ended up in Bambi’s forest. She curled up in the fallen log of a tree, shaking and feeling cold, and slept in while waiting for the end of the storm.

The next morning, she was feeling better, but panicked when she found didn’t recognize anything. She had no idea where she was, but she could tell it wasn’t her home forest. She started wandering around, helplessly calling for her mother.

The Great Prince, who was already a handsome young stag by that time, heard and found her. He asked her what had happened, and she told him about it. But she wasn’t able to tell him where she had come from, so he couldn’t do much to help her.

Bree had to learn to live on her own, and she made it. She was old enough to eat plants and knew how to deal with things by herself, and with some help of the older does, she was able to survive.

Over time, she grew into a rather pretty doe and when she reached breeding age and the rut came, she was one of the does the Great Prince chose. She was happy about that, for she had developed a crush on the buck after he had helped her and admired his strength.

In spring, she gave birth to a fawn, and because the little doe drank her first sips of milk at dawn, she named her Rora.

Rora grew up pretty normal. In her first few months of life, she constantly followed her mother around, especially because Bree didn’t want her daughter to suffer the same faith she did herself, but when Rora started to eat grass, she was on her own more often.

Rora was friends with Faline and Bambi, two fawns she often met on the meadow. She also liked Herla, the son of one of her mother’s friends. He was one year older than she was, but she admired the handsome buck.

She never met her father personally, but her mother told her who he was when they once saw him standing near the edge of the meadow. She was impressed by what a mighty sire she had.

When the Great Prince was killed by Trar, she and her mother were on the meadow as well, and both does were horrified by what they had to witness. And the two were very scared of Trar and his captains. Bree was taken into one of the buck’s harems in the following year.

Rora, who grew into a pretty adult doe when the following year started, feared to be taken into one of the captain’s harems as well, just like Faline. She started eating less, but still, enough to stay healthy, and lost weight, hoping none of the bucks would want a skinny little doe.
It worked on the captains, but there were still bucks who desired the doe. One was attempting to force her to be his doe with violence, but that was when Herla stepped in. He strictly told the buck that this doe was his, and chased him off.

Rora stared at Herla with big eyes, but he just smiled at her and told her she was safe now. As his doe, she wouldn’t have to fear anything.

After this incident, she started eating as usual again, and regained some weight despite the food being less good than in summer and spring. She also fell for Herla head over hooves, and the two mated when she came into season.

She was content, even when Herla was chosen to guard Faline. She still saw him or talked to him every now and then.

But when she came to know that he had escaped with the other doe, she was shocked and felt betrayed. She couldn’t believe Herla hadn’t even told her that he was leaving. When war came, she got even worse, for now she also feared he might have died in battle.

In spring, she had their fawn, a little buck. He looked a lot like his father, but had her and his grandfather’s eyes. She named him Lyall, after his father’s most striking character trait. She was reminded of her former mate every time she looked at the fawn.

But unfortunately, she wasn’t the only one who noticed the resemblance. She was grazing one day, Lyall chasing a butterfly near her, when Nacht and Trar crossed their path. Trar immediately identified the fawn as Herla’s, and Rora could tell by his expression that the hideous buck was going to kill her fawn. She told Lyall to stay behind her, but didn’t dare to run away.

But then, Nacht talked to Trar very quietly and Trar calmed down. The bucks walked over and asked her about Lyall. She admitted he was Herla’s; it would have had no use to deny it.

And in that moment, Nacht started poisoning Lyall’s mind, telling him lies about his father, the traitor. Rora couldn’t believe it and tried to do something about it, but one glare of Nacht made her shut up.

She is currently trying to make her son believe that his father isn’t what Nacht tells him, but it’s a fact that Herla ran over to the enemy.
