I haven't seen Bambi in ages, but I do remember crying at that scene. Kind of makes you wonder what you'd do if your own mother died. Bambi was so brave for going on without her... Plenty of people and animals would go into depression and refuse to let it go, but Bambi stayed strong and lived with his father from then on.

I recently re-watched Bambi, and actually had forgotten how much of an absolute classic it is. I totally forgot that most of it is based on his childhood. xD

At the death scene, I nearly cried. The scene before it is just so.. well, terrifying and sudden. From the creepy music to the extremely dramatic running back to the thicket -- it gives me chills just to think about it. Then of course when he thinks she's with him, then he goes looking for her, calling after her. God, that is so depressing. Lion King is just as bad, with Simba hopelessly snuggling into his father's dead body, but the fact that Bambi was running through the forest calling her name is just as effective. He's just lucky the Great Prince showed up when he did, only to make the scene even MORE depressing. But I love the line, "Come my son," as it helps you to understand that Bambi isn't alone anymore.

Then suddenly out of nowhere, HAPPY LITTLE BIRDIES SINGING GAY LITTLE SPRING SONGS. :D And don't get mad at me for that, those are the lyrics.

Basically: goddamnit Disney. xD

Yes, it is true. Every time I watched the death scene I cried. It was a very sad and moving scene.

I only watched Bambi for the very first time last week (thank you Sky Movies Disney) and I really enjoyed Bambi. It really made me appreciate classical animation at its finest.

As for the 'sad' scene, while I was on the verge of crying I didn't shed a tear. Maybe because it's not a film that I watched when I was younger? I'm unsure. I agree with Rebel about the Great Prince, it made the story more harrowing for sure.
