The name "Taka" was given to him by the author of a Lion King Book in the Six Adventures called Tale Of Two Brothers. Although this person who called Scar "Taka"(his original name) and how he got his Scar wasnt apart of Disney, Disney let the book be published. Same with Kopa(this is sorta irrelevant). He wasn't created by Disney, but Disney allowed the books to be published.

I really doubt that Disney would have a lion with a name like Scar. He had to have had a name, a real one, before that. I think Taka was that, given to him when he was born, but when he got his scar, he - not anyone else - decided to call himself Scar.

Yep. But in the end, only the original film's creators opinion matters for the truth. Because they are the one's who really can say and decide what Scar's real name most officially is as they created Scar. And they have denied Taka from being that name, by denying Kopa who also exists in that book.

There's no way Disney would allow Scar to have just that name. Wasn't he a cub at some point? Didn't he have a true name. Taka certainly fits that.

If Disney denys Taka being Scar's true name and the existance of Kopa, well... *cuts the thought short*

Disney obviously didn't mind, bearing in mind the fact they gave Mega-Books, Inc the permission to publish the Six New Adventures.

What's your point? You made that sound like it would be a crime/sin/disgrace? And they deny them only for the film universe and only those specific names/identities, not the entire concept of having a name/identity. As in that Scar's real name and the cub's identity are simply left up to fanfiction about the canon story.

I wouldn't call it a sin or anything like that. I just find it incredibly weird. Besides, Mufasa and Scar had pasts, a background, which is told in The Tale of Two Brothers. Despite the... unusualness of how Taka got his Scar in the first place, no one denies that fact - that they had pasts. Why can't the books fit in the movies' universe?

The books can and do fit in in fanfiction which is basically what the books themselves are. As I think I stated in my first reply to this topic, Scar being called Taka annoys me only when it gets claimed as his totally official real name for him, when in fact it's not as Scar's creators have denied it.

And I don't think it's weird that Disney denies Taka from being Scar's real name and Kopa from being the cub. It's like J.K. Rowling has said for the reason why she'll never write a prequel to her Harry Potter books: "You already know everything you need to know." In TLK's case that would be the film's content is all we need to know in order to have fun with fanfiction and stay true to the canon.

Harry Potter is irrelevant to this, even if it is used as an example. I think, as far as The Lion King is concerned, that is not true in the least. There is so much more, so many unanswered questions and many plotholes. Many things that don't make sense. The Circle of Life doesn't just stop. It continues, on and on. Life and death, death and life. It's an endless round, as it should be. Why get annoyed when people call Scar 'Taka'? Because they, including me, believe that was his original name before he got the scar? I don't see what the big deal is. Everyone, even a fictional character like Scar, has a past. You would deny that fact because Disney did? Give me a break. Because of these questions, and not the 'content' is why we have fanfiction.

My point was that sometimes authors just don't want to make official anything else but what's in the original content they created - because they feel that fans know by that, all they need to serve their fan creativity. So Harry Potter is not irrelevant. I could've used any fandom as an example, I just chose HP because its creator has actually said out loud the reason why sometimes there just simply is officially nothing more to the canon than the original story and why there's nothing wrong or weird about it.

And I hate to break your bubble, but The Lion King is a fictional series just like any other. All fictional series have plot holes, unanswered questions and many things that don't make sense. (Except perhaps The Lord of the Rings / Middle-Earth series, as it was Tolkien's life work or something, so he focused on making it extremely detailed.)

For heaven's sake, who in the world has ever denied that Scar has a past?! I am just denying it being officially the one from that freakin' BOOK because Scar's creators denied it too. And thus am saying that while semi-officially Scar's name and past have been offered a version, officially it's been left up to fanfiction.

Forgive me for saying, but your viewpoint seems to be horribly, horribly narrow. You seem to believe that if the past isn't officially what the book says, there's no past at all. In fact there IS a past but Scar's creators just chose not to reveal it but let us fans vision it for ourselves.

You do realize that the questions wouldn't exist without the content? So basically it is the content why we have fanfiction. As in EVERYTHING sources from the content.

I'm being narrow? Who believes that the books and the movies are two different things, saying that they were meant to separate. What's the point of having the books if they don't enhance the story in the movie universe.
