Hm, awkward to what extent, though? For example, some members have fursonas or characters that could be considered "awkward" just because they're hybrid of a mystical breed (vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, unicorns, whatever the heck else you can think of). So I assume the question would be whether a limit to the 'awkwardness' would be put in place (and if so, to what extent). Also, if there were a character hub, would sparkle dogs be allowed?

Okay, I'll make a list of what I think is awkward.

Wings
Snake tongs
Extremely long claws
Starved to death (skinny)
More than one head or tail
Piercings
Snake hair
Stitched faces
Leg warmers
Glow sticks
Weird markings

But as for sparkle dogs, I'm not sure. I would personally like to say no. Let's just see what other think.

Well, I don't really care if they're put on that site personally. The real issue for me was when people put them where they're don't belong (on a site dedicated to a movie). Those things are weird to see yes and there should probably be some sort of limit, but the "hub" we're talking about here is for original work, not just ordinary normal dogs, at least from what I see.

As long as you want an other site to make go away the unrelated stuff from the originales animations source, let's they make what they want xD It'll make an other drama land and let AS be better without the " they don't let me send my Pink magic wulf here ".
I think it's simple, AS will have some true rules who are in the same universe than the movies ( with different rules on the different site of course ... Since there are Pink, blue and green dog on ADGTH movie but no one on the lion king for example ). And the characters site will be " what ever you want and don't want " place.
( I still think it's a stupid Idea, but if it's not an animation source site, I don't see the problem ... I'll never put my feet there !!! XD )

Well, I honestly don't know where my head was at yesterday xD Anyway, it would probably be better if sparkles n' all that other odd stuff was allowed.

A lot of those things are indeed awkward, though i'm not so sure there's a valid reason why they shouldn't be allowed. Perhaps on the character hub there could be more filters (so if you didn't want to see general things like wings for example, you could just filter them out)?

Adding a filter would probably be a good idea.

Speaking strictly as a site member, I'm not keen on the part about deleting everything. I've got a lot of images and stories which I've put years of work into, and they're well-liked by a lot of people including some who've already commented on this topic. Most of them are tied into the appropriate series in one way or another - granted, there's my Road Rover fanfics, which I suppose I could part with especially if there were a source for them.

Mayb I'm misreading something, but deleting everything and starting from scratch seems way overboard.

^Not everything, just the character sections.

Well, that's a bit of an improvement. I still think some people, myself included, would want to hold onto their characters, and the feedback they've gotten. Speaking as someone who's had his characters deleted once already, it bites. I can't remember most of the people who used them for one thing or another, and I still haven't re-registered them for use on my co-op account.

I like the idea of a Character Source is as diplomatic as any I've come across, but wouldn't it be better to simply move characters there? Just as an example, my All Dogs go to Heaven fanfic, "What Are You Talking About?" used to be on Balto Source. Then when ADGTH Source opened up, steet relocated the story there. What if the same thing could be done with characters? Perhaps there could even be an option for the creator to move them if an appropriate Source opens - say if someone made a dinosaur character and then a Land Before Time Source opened (which I would heartily support). That way, only stage one of your plan would be altered, and I think it would be to pretty much everyone's advantage.

I can see some pros and cons to such an approach.

Pros: It would make things easier for members, and those who thrive on feedback and/or like to keep tight control on their characters wouldn't lose ground.

Cons: People might move a character to the wrong Source by accident or to be annoying (this could be prevented by leaving transfers subject to approval by Character Mods), and there might be some programming tangles with changed links.

Any thoughts?

The only characters that are being moved are the non-related ones.

Yes, but the proposed first step is to delete ALL characters.

If Steet would make it so us mods could just move them over to the other site, we wouldn't need to delete them all. It would be chaos if we deleted them all.

And with so many non-related characters on Balto Source and the other Sources it would take forever.

That's basically what I'm saying.
