This is a more recent book by new auther Maggie Stiefvator, author of Lament and Ballad. For those of you who haven't read it or ever heard of it, it is one of the best books I have ever read. The basic plot is about a human girl who gets caught up in the affairs of the werewolves living in the woods just outside her house. And I can't really say much more without giving, like, the whole plot away. I know everybody is sick and tired of supernatural creatures falling in love with humans. And I know that, like, every author in the world is trying to write one because Stephenie (who can't write worth crap, though I shouldn't talk cuz I'm the biggest Twilight fan you'll meet) is making who knows how much money on her series. But this book was exceptionally good and very different from 'normal' supernatural/human books that I've read. Now, if you have read this book, post your comments on it here! Also, I would love to know who you would want to play Grace, Sam, ect... if ever there would be a movie to come out. (highly doubt that). And take two seconds of your time to at least answer the poll if you don't feel like commenting! Hope to see at least SOMEBODY respond to this soon. Until then, happy reading!
I haven't posted in this topic for a while, but I just wanted to give a small up-date. Maggie has written a sequal to Shiver called Linger. This book continues the love story between Grave and Sam as they encounter obstacles they thought they had already gotten passed. It also brings Isabel more into the story, and introduces a new character, Cole, to the mix. I thought this book was just as good as the first. It continues the story realistically, and is filled with many more twists than the first one. There is a planned third novel called Forever, that is planned to come out in 2011. It is also supposed to be the last book in the series. Also, Shiver is actually becoming a movie! Unique Features has gotten the rights for the movie and it is being prodiced by Bob Shaye and Michael Lynn, who have been a part in the making of The Lord of the Rings. I found this very exciting news. So far, there is nothing final (I don't even think they have finished script-writing or casting) so there will still be plenty of waiting for this movie.
Just thought I'd give a small up-date since the third book's cover came out a few days ago. This is very, VERY exciting news to me. So, here is the new cover: (It's RED!!!!!!!) Well, nothing much more than that has happened in the Shiver world, so that is all I have to say for now. I will probably up-date again when Forever actually comes out (which will be July 2011), or maybe before if there is some more finalizing with the movie process.

I just got it off the library, haven't read it much yet. Seems like an okay book, tho.

I got this book - along with thirteen others - for Christmas, and it was by far one of the best. I thought it was a unique twist on werewolf lore and that it was well written compared to most YA books.

That would be awesome if you did! I really want to get this series some love because it deserves. Also, I have up-dated the first page (again) with this: Just thought I'd give a small up-date since the third book's cover came out a few days ago. This is very, VERY exciting news to me. So, here is the new cover: (It's RED!!!!!!!) Well, nothing much more than that has happened in the Shiver world, so that is all I have to say for now. I just finished reading this book and let me tell you, it was AMAZING. One of the best books I've ever read in my entire life and I absolutely can't wait until I'm done reading the vampire diaries to read linger. Seriously, though, Shiver was one of the most well written, original, touching, and descriptive stories I've ever read. Kudos to Maggie for being the author of such a fantastic book.
*thumbs up* I can't wait till they turn it into a movie (which is soon I gather) *grins*

I agree highly with both of you^^ I fell in love with the Shiver series the moment i started reading it!! When my mother first bought it for me, among a bunch of other non interesting boring books(Seriously, there was one named "kiss my math"?! lame) I wasn't too excited for it. Then once i got into it, i couldn't stop reading it until i finished!! Once i finished i read it again. Then Noodle read it, and we both read it like four times!! This is a beautifully written peace, that smushes the twilight series and their funky little fairy people into the ground!! A couple months later, around halloween, i was very twitchy because it was closer to x-mas and i wanted to buy linger. Well, we were going to Philedelphia for halloween, so my mother and grandmother bought myu brother and i two giant buckets of candy (still haven't run out of that struff yet..i must've gained like, 3 lbs!) And in my bucket... SAT LINGER!! Mom said it was for the day after Halloween, when we are in the car. And i wasn't allowed to touch it until then! I cryed. So sad, i waited in the car for that long time, until i finally got to read it!!, Cole was a good addition to the story, i love how he just wants to stay wolf (no spoilers!!) and gosh, point it: If you haven't read the Shiver series:
GET OFF YOUR TAIL GET ON THE INTERNET AND ORDER IT!! DON'T HAVE INTERNET?? GO TO THE NEAREST BOOKSTAORE AND READ. THAT. BOOK!!!!!!

Cause I love the books so much haha XDD I actually am considering not reading the vampire diaries... I want to read linger so badly... and then I can read the VD while waiting for forever. Forever, I am very excited for (despite the fact I've never read linger which probably leads to my crazy ideas... XD) because I thought maybe it had to do something with Grace...? Turning into a wolf? I don't know. I was very jumpy when I found out there was a third book and I think I'm going to read the second as soon as possible.

I'm not doing spoilers if you still haven't read Linger and if you don't want to hear it, but, from the small description of Forever, it's obvious that something happened to Grace xD I wish there could be written more!
