Title says it all =P
So when you we're kid, we're you scared of ADGTH?
I gotta say, I didn't like it first time when I sawed it, it was dark, it had drugs, and killing. My 6-year old cousin was pretty scared of the whole movie. You know, it isn't such a 'kid movie'
So, what about you guys?

I don't really know, because I have a bad memory, but probably not. I don't know. I was probably focused on the dogs the most.

I dont recall...but even now where Charlie dreams he's in hell and the devil above Ann Marie's house is a little un-nerving.
What drugs were in the movie? All I saw was beer and smoking.

Actually, it is a kid's movie. For its time, anyway. True there was drinking, gambling, killing, visions of Hell, however they never stated that what the dogs were drinking was alcohol. I mean, it was, lets not kid ourselves, but as a child, I didn't know what beer was. I thought it was soda, cuz it was all bubbly.
I didn't think anything of the fact that Charlie died, because, well, they didn't show it either time. (Let me ask you people, how exactly would this movie work if none of the characters died? I mean, in order to get to Heaven, you kind of have to die.)
As for the gambling? Didn't think anything of it. My parents didn't gamble. I knew that some of the games had cards and dice and of course I've seen adults play with them, but I didn't think of it as bad.
There were no drugs. No hard drugs. Dogs smoked. So? They weren't kids. And my grandpa smoked. That was a good enough sign for me that only grown-ups smoked.
Yes, the scene from Hell scared me a bit, but it was supposed to. There's no reason why kids shouldn't be scared from movies xD That's why every story has something wicked in it, to and extent its supposed to scare children into behaving. But since I was born and raised Catholic, it wasn't anything I hadn't heard of before. But I definitely didn't really know how to envision it till this movie and to me it was much scarier to see it than to hear about it.
Ironically, I was more scared of this movie after picking it up a number of years without seeing it for a while (when I was probably about 18, not having seen it since I was 9 or 10). True, I was a little amazed as to how they presented everything, but it was nothing terrible, but actually quite necessary.

I was always scared, when I was 5 years old, the hell part. Atleast I didn't like it. But thanks for your comments 8D

Erm.. The time i watched this was 8-9 years old so i wasnt that afraid of much (Except SPIDERs >.>) But i do agree alot of the darker scenes did make me alittle afraid. but it was more curiosity then screaming. But no i dont find it scary no more =P i understand now the scenes i was alittle afraid of but apart from this i wasnt that scared.

I don't think I showed it when I was younger, but the whole Hell nightmare was rather sinister and scary. I could understand how that could make any little kid under the age of 7 wet their pants.
The smoking, gambling and drinking . . . that shouldn't scare kids. Grown-ups do it all the time and there's no doubt that kids have seen it before.
But the DEATH . . . yes, you don't see it at all in the film (no dead bodies, no blood, no actuall impact . . . Wait, did we hear it the first time Charlie dies?), but you just know. It might scare the crap out of kids at first . . . I mean, not many children's movies, live-action or animated, mention or even feature death nowadays . . . (although more live-action ones seem to mention it than animated; it's like taboo to use (or mention) death in a cartoon lately . . . unless it's Tom and Jerry or some other Looney Tunes sort of thing. Blame the parents, people.) However, ADGTH seems to use death, not to scare viewers, but to teach a lesson about how important it is to think of others and that sort of stuff . . .
Yeah, that's about it.

I was like Cat. I wasn't scared since I didn't fully understand what was going on.

Mostly King Gator all my life. He gives me the creeps if you read my post on the Princess and the Frog forums.
The hell sequence gave me a shock the first moment, but like the dream sequence with the cat organs as puppet strings in Felicidae, I grew over the fear.
