Here's my newest completed work. There's some pretty heavy subject material, so I put it in spoiler tags.

Secret Truth
The sacred name we hold so high
Taboo except to satisfy the rest
Because they all believe we're sanctified
From dust to dust and ash to ash
The double-cross is what we worship
Advertising only three in one
We lose ourselves because they take it for granted
We masquerade that we're below our master
But who maintains the mask behind closed doors?
Who among us still believes we'll never ask for more?
Who among us still believes we're loved?
Who would say that books and prayers give anyone enough?
The holy water we all drink
Like poison that we'd not consume
The bread we say is carcass of a king
We vultures now are coming soon
The foreign words we spit at will
Or just to appease the crowds
The sacrifice we make and take just like a pill
We dedicate to beings in the clouds
Or even just their minds
For who among us still believes in God
When governments would choke the world for speaking of his name
When politicians black it out with their ungodly laws?
We bury faith so deep inside
The tomb whose stone won't roll away
Our hearts and souls will make no motion
Deny three times the one they hold so dear
And Nero's cross we worship
The one shard of glass in a mound of diamonds
We have found it; we exalt it
And throw our souls into the fiery sea
As long as I've known this to be true, it has been
Hiding our identities in cloaks of shadow
The ship displaying but the white flag
Will soon be stained with red of war
And over and over again
The truly sanctified are overwhelmed
By hordes of those infected with disease
They're swarmed with hate
Surrounded by greed and lust and rape
Their innocence is threatened from within
And soon enough they'll realize
That they're the only ones
Who keep their faces pointed toward the sun
We hold the secret deep inside
We're running out of precious time
Eventually we'll find out that we're too late and die out
Because we failed to see the simple truth I'd love to hear your thought on it.

Weathering This Storm
==================================
Black clouds of modern despair
Spread across all our horizons
Deep within a torrent of souls
Storm will be here at this time tomorrow
And we must see this through
If we are to start this over again
Begin to mend all the severed ties
As the torrential rains pour down
Like waterfalls of our emotion
We try to make sense of this all
And settle our differences in vain
Flashes of lightning shoot down
Through a fault line in the heavens
Slashing through the grey skies
With a commanding untamed fury
As we buckle down the shelter doors
And lock the windows of the soul
We must stand up to this hellish fight
Weathering these storms of regret
Against the ways of a world lost
We must not relent if we want to
Ever see another chance for light
We cannot fail in this eternal fight
We must weather these storms of life
As if true divinity was never meant to be
Electrical currents flow like the blood
Through the gentle rivers of our very souls
Water like all the vain tears we've shed
Drenches the earth in our eternal sorrow
And acid like fire like drops of liquid pain
Paints a picture of world with no tomorrows
As we burn through all the yesterdays
Life seems to stand us here frozen solid
Deep within these once hallowed grounds
As the snowstorms settle in upon us now
The cold of winter's biting chill surrounds
And all hope of another day drifts away
Astray on the back of a lonesome snowflake
As we buckle down the shelter doors
And lock the windows of the soul
We must stand up to this hellish fight
Weathering these storms of regret
Against the ways of a world lost
We must not relent if we want to
Ever see another chance for light
We cannot fail in this eternal fight
We must weather these storms of life
Redemption so far away but oh so close
That you can almost taste its sweet reward
But the maker's hand says there's hell to pay
If you cannot resist your temptations and
This inner devil you know called impulse
Static signals of noise blare through the sirens
Shattering all of your disharmonious silence
As we buckle down the shelter doors
And lock the windows of the soul
We must stand up to this hellish fight
Weathering these storms of regret
Against the ways of a world lost
We must not relent if we want to
Ever see another chance for light
We cannot fail in this eternal fight
We must weather these storms of life

Poisoned
I can see a glimpse of the future
Through these shattered window panes
But I won't stay here forever
Locked inside these rusted chains
I can almost hear all the faithful
Through the static as they rise
But the past is far from over
And today is my demise
I can hear you faithfully whisper
"Everything will be alright"
Make it happen now or never
So I know I'll hold you tight
Though you left me here tonight
Locked inside the evanescence
Of my faint, diluted mind
Don't leave me far behind
Let me be the things that I'm destined to be
Let me fall from victory to agony
I will stand for the tears that I have cried
Just don't leave me locked inside
As the shadows fall all around me
I can hear them call my name
Though I'm sitting here in safety
I know I'm the one to blame
I can almost feel how I'm fragile
But this lifeblood--still it flows
It disguises how I faltered
In the broken path I chose
I can hear you faithfully whisper
"Everything will be alright"
Make it happen now or never
So I know I'll hold you tight
Though you left me here tonight
