Leaves and Metal Rain

The quiet autumn morning breaks with the fall of leaves.
Silence encapsulates the moment.
Time itself roles back to that day.
When not leaves but a rain of broken bodies and cement fell from the sky.
Filling the streets of the Empire City.
Tears like water flowed into the Hudson and into the cold indifferent Atlantic.
The sorrow of a great nation brought to its knees.
The victim of those who claimed to do Almighty’s will.
Years on the open wound has healed but it has left a scar.
A sore spot for those who lived through those days.
Many still await for the return of those they lost.
For them to come home and open the front door.
But their footsteps will never echo in their homes again.
Their memory kept alive in the hearts those they left behind.
But it reminds many of a void that will never be filled.
But from the embers of tragedy, flames of hope will spring.
For a brighter tomorrow will rise.
Just as now a tower of steel and glass rise to the bright sky above.
A testament of defiance to those who seek to bring evil into this world.
An eternal monument for the world to see, and a reminder.
To never forget that day.

This is a haiku in 5-7-5 style


Cat in warm sunshine

Her tail flicking soundlessly

Peaceful rest, sweet dreams!

I have a haiku as well:

'Bout a billion trolls
Coupled with lots of hackers
Is the Internet

Eh, why not? I'll write a haiku too. ^^

Gently swaying leaves
Dancing, twirling, in the breeze
Beautiful ballet.

"Window to the Soul"

One window is all I need
To find that thing inside
But I don't search for greed,
For I have time to bide.

I'd like to find a heart,
powerful and true,
One that will not break apart
Nor fall down in two.

One that's been through much,
But still strongly stands,
Radiating love, such
Simple, soft demands.

One window is all I need
To find that thing inside;
Even if the second's broken,
I gaze into the good eye.



"Meeting Myself"

Someday I will find myself,
Standing strong and free,
Safe from people's mocking cries;
In perfect harmony.

Someday I will see myself,
In the mirror tall,
Not beautiful nor full of wealth,
But happy with my all.

Someday I will hear myself
On the coldest nights,
singing gentle lullabyes
To comfort children's frights.

Someday I will be myself
In each and every way.
Someday I will know myself,
But sadly, not today.

"Sentence Poem" (aka "Class Assignment that Needs a Better Title")

Hazy sun-rays pour
out upon a worn wood house--
drowning the pastels of the
patchy lawn around it.
Grass rustles under-paw
of the scrawny old cat--
sulking; trudging 'way from the
bleached and weary wood.

Choice

Can't we all just get along?
Pair the weak right next to the strong?
Realize the things that we have done wrong?
Give up our old selves and sing a new song?
Help an old friend, who cries out for help?
Listen to them scream, shout out, and yelp?
All evil souls, ignore, cut, and sell?
Who'll be the one you choose to tell?
It's all up to you, strong, young one.
When the choice is made up, come
To the dark or the light
And keep up the fight.
See all the signs.
To live or to die.

The flow of my heart

Shunned by the liars

Deceit trails it
Lies disrupt it
Kind words help it
And betrayal destroys it 

What is it? 

Battered and weak
Yet temptingly strong
Helped by good actions
Or scorned by the wrong

What is it? Trust.

A Heart That Has Too Many Bandages
(January 2013)

A heart that had too many bandages...
Is better left alone.
To heal the wounds of time
Or turn itself to stone.

For it's been loved and thanked and cared for
But torn and shattered and bruised more

A heart that holds secrets
Emotions
Beliefs
And truths

But also sin
And regret
And painfulness too...

People love you but harm as well
And while trust breaks, you can't make
The pain in your heart not swell.

Bleeding and crying, your heart pleads no more
But alas, you can't hear it, so it keeps pumping on.

Overtime, it fractures
The pieces are proof
And so it has bandages.
Too many to count and too many to cure.

Might as well try to bring this to life...

Last Day


If today was my last day
I'd tell you I love you
I'd apologize for everything I've done wrong
Whether it hurt you or not

If today was my last day
I'd wish you the best
And hope that you could carry on without me
And hope that we'd see each other again someday

If today was my last day
I'd embrace you, tears in my eyes
And say goodbye
For what might be the last time

But I'd ask you a simple question
If today was my last day
What would you tell me?

Here's one I'm extremely proud of that I wrote last semester.

Gray

I still remember the day
when we all turned to ashes.

The sky was choked with
dark smoke from the furnaces
as we burned.

An army of bones
rose from the ground
to dig their own graves,
empty and hollow as themselves.

Thick colorless stripes cling
to our ragged bodies.
Numbers are pressed into our arms
with dull ink.

Then,

our skin was stripped away,
leaving only ribs and skulls
bleached and broken.

The sound of singing rises
as gas and smoke and dirt
fills us up,

As death comes to embrace us,

Weep! For what we have lost.
Weep! For what we have become.

And here's a collaborative poem i did with my boyfriend! =)
I wrote the parts in bold.

There was a girl I fell for, who whispered sweet nothings to the forest
There was a man I used to love, I smudged my lies upon his neck
Her lipstick stains along trails of fading lust and a longing to keep the trees on fire
‘Let it burn’, I whisper, All that’s left of our love is gray and ash.
I haven’t heard from her, the forest burnt, reduced to cigarette ash glowing in city lights far from me
Your old love letters are hot to the touch, though trust fades, the words sear.
I sent her letters after it all. Sweet nothings and drunken slurs of a mix of I love so much I could almost hate you.
Perhaps in you I only see myself; that is why I must go.

Forever As One


Deep in the woods, they are walking along
A boy and a girl sing her favorite song:
"We're forever as one"
Her eyes are wide with affection and bliss
She thinks of how much she just wishes they'd kiss
In September's sweet sun
They're together

Walking her home as a breeze drifts on by
The sun's not too hot, not a cloud in the sky
Leaves flutter down as he looks to her eyes
"Let's remember this day"
He takes her hands and he kisses her nose
Seeming from nowhere, he pulls a white rose
Says, "Remember this day"
She says, "Forever I'll stay"

When they reach her house, he says, “Promise you’ll keep
This rose close to you when you’re going to sleep
I’ll be with you”
She nods her head, and then he takes a bow
“We must part ways, but it’s only for now
I’ll be with you”

Seven years later, they still walk along
Each day a new rose, still her favorite song:
“We’re forever as one”
Her eyes are wide with affection and bliss
Her eyes widen still as they finally kiss
In September’s sweet sun
They’re forever

A Torrent Of Fractured Emotions

All the apparent turmoil within
It runs so deep through the
Streams of our fractured conscience
As we burn from the inside
This erratic and distant behavior
Is shattering all that we know
What is the point to it all now
As we sail the seas of everyday malice

The torrent of primal emotions within
A violent, twisted juxtaposition of
Condescending words built
On top of everyday good intentions
Broken hearts and hollow promises
And what the purpose of it all
As it kills us all from the inside out

As the walls crash down and fall now
Do we even know what is this thing called life

It seems today the past is now
And the future is long gone
Lost without a prayer to the
Torrent of shattered motives
That have come to betray us
But when all is seemingly lost
At the end of the darkest day
And we find we're longing for
Something more to hold onto

Do we even know what purpose and reaction
Is anymore if not the will to just survive

This life is like a waterfall
Of fragmented emotions
So often it's misunderstood
Why were all even sent here
To find a dry sanctuary from
The reality of our existence
These thoughts they enter me
So tender and violent now

What is the meaning to all this daily turmoil
From shore to shore the endless disarray and death

As we all burn brightly from
The inside out for all to see
There's a lonely lost star in
A vast sea of black nothingness
And miles of celestial dark matter
Forever in a state of suspended animation
It sits to burn eternally bright in the night
Just a distant reminder of all that was

Time is just a figment of our imaginations
And much too real for us to not let it slip away
And space is the vast social emptiness
Within the emotional seas that betray us
But how can we ever really answer that when
None of us will ever see what the far distant light holds

This is a song I have struggled to convey for many years and earlier tonight while listening to Killswitch Engage I got really motivated and wrote this one. I hope somehow this helps someone somewhere that has been through hell of some kind. Know this one is for you guys man. There will be better days mark my words. This I know.
