brontespurge : At the end of The Lion King 2, it's clear that Kovu will marry Kiara and become king. But was Kiara really suppost to marry Kovu?
I think that there was another male lion in the pride, and Kiara was betroved to him. There are reasons how this could be true.
1. Simba hated Kovu in the beginning. There is no way that he could have been betroved to Kiara.
2. After Simba dies, Kiara wouldn't be able to lead the pride on her own because she's a lioness.
So it makes sense. There must have been another male lion (probably the son of Kula and either Tojo, Tama or Malka) who wasn't mentioned in the films and was probably forgotten about when Kovu came along.
If anyone else has any other theorys, please tell me in your comments.
Sorry the artical's a bit short.

Nice article, however, the 'tradition' may have only applied to male
cubs in the pride, where out of all the females, only one could be his
mate. As many females woulds want to be queen. In the case of a
Princess, the tradition would be waved as there are not many males in
a pride. So it would be up to her to find a suitor or else destroy the
blood line. |

I'm pretty sure that he wanted Kiara to just be a single queen
(however, it would not be the case in real life). |

Hmm, interesting. Simba and Nala were betrothed as cubs, and Zazu
calls it "a tradition going back generations." So yes, Kiara could
have been betrothed to some cub. But betrothal is binding, is it not?
(At least, it seemed to be in "Sleeping Beauty.") To have a betrothal
completely revoked at such short notice--and all completely offscreen,
since we don't officially know of any such betrothal--sounds a bit
dodgy to me. I doubt Kiara was officially betrothed. However, Simba could have very well had suitors in mind. They would just have no contract with Kiara. That would make it perfectly fine for her to marry Kovu. The question is, why didn't Simba choose to follow this "tradition"? I'm thinking that Simba didn't really like the idea of betrothal, as evidenced by his reaction as a cub. Zazu would have had to relent, though. |

Sorry I misunderstand it a bit, my bad. But still doubt it, Kiara just
grown up. I doubt she was already betroved, I just cant imagine it to
be already, but it could be Simba have somebody else in mind for her,
or she liked somebody, but truly love someone, I doubt, her and Kovu
fell in love in matter of (2-3)days, I doubt she would go so fast with
Kovu if she did love someone before. I don't know, its just one thing
where you can let your imagination free, and have a lot of
possibilities with. |

Seth2208 - When I refered to Kiara having a betroved, I meant before
Kovu came along. Simba must have had some idea of who Kiara was going
to marry. Like I said, this betroved male lion must have been
forgotten when Kovu came along. |

Kovu will be king, Kiara loves him, and would not have another mate,
and Simba accepted him in pride, and also in family, at end of TLK2.
Besides Kiara just grown up, in movie, so she wasn't betroved yet, she
just grown up, so she wasn't suppose to marry any particular male.
Love will find a way wasn't there just to be ignored , it showed
Kiara loves Kovu more than any other. So he will be king, and she
queen. And Nuka can't be, he is dead. |

That's a very good question. Probably anyone could have been king.
Maybe even Nuka. You know, the oldest, the smartest. |

Sorry I made a mistake. In the brackets its supposed to say 'probably
the son of either Kula or Tama and either Tojo or Malka'. |
