History: Ashley was born under the rule of King Simba and Queen Nala. His father ran off when he found out that his mother was pregnant. Ash's mother died giving birth to him. Nala and Simba raised Ash with their children, Kopa, Kiara and Kion. 

Ashley and kopa were best friends. They did everything together. Kopa had a tendency of rushing into things, while Ash was more careful and kept them both out of trouble. 

As teenagers, Ashley knew that Kopa had a crush on Vitani, a lioness from an enemy Pride. Kopa would have Ash as a look out while he was with Vitani, but Ashley didn't like keeping secrets so he didn't go with Kopa and instead stayed at home. 

A few days later, Zazu told them that Kopa had died fighting an outlander. This left Ash heartbroken. If only he had been there. He could have protected or saved his life. Ashley asked Simba to train him. He wanted to protect the rest of his family. 

Months later a lioness his age was welcomed into the pride. Ashley saw her from a far walking with Kiara and Tiifu. This new lioness seemed frightened, maybe he could help her. When Kiara introduced them, they got along instantly. He learnt that her name was Ansel and that she had been mistreated by her pride and former mate.
