Personality: Hard-headed and charismatic. He is also very show-offy and always tries to please his 'audience' and keep them entertained. He is an extradionary actor; in fact his own lies fool himself. However, now that he has settled down, he now is as truthful as he can be. When it comes to family, Defir is very traditional and loves Kiara dearly. He knows perfectly well he is not Kovu, but he wants to make her as happy as she can be. He is frustrated by Adanna's resentment of him, but he continues to try and win her over.

History: After Kovu's death, Kiara sunk into a hole of despair. Though her bond with Adanna had strengthened, she was still very lonely and depressed. She could not rule as Queen of the Pridelands in her state, and since Adanna was still not ready to rule (as she was still quite young), Simba and Nala retook their positions temporarily.

One day, a starving lion crossed into Prideland territory where he was treated poorly by Simba upon their first encounter. However, Nala begged Simba to allow the lion to stay temporarily. He introduced himself as Defir, and once he regained all the weight he lost, he found himself infatuated by Kiara, who was still pining for Kovu. Noticing this, Nala was delighted and relayed this news to Simba, who eventually decided to allow him to stay for they both hoped Defir could repair Kiara's broken heart.

Needless to say, the few months he was living in the Pridelands were a complete disaster - though he tried showing off for Kiara, she continued to turn him away. He brought her flowers and meat, but she continued to give him the cold shoulder. Determined, Defir decided on a different approach, and took Kiara out for a romantic evening. As they were stargazing, Kiara broke down crying and Defir lent his shoulder to her, comforting her as she poured out the event that led to Kovu's death. Defir then pointed out Kovu's star in the sky, and told Kiara that he was always watching over her.

That night changed their relationship for the better. Kiara finally gave Defir a chance, and found that she liked his company. He was no Kovu, but she realized he was willing to sacrifice anything he could to keep her happy. She accepted him as her mate, and a few months later recovered remnants of her former self. She re-assumed her title as Queen, and Defir became King, though he needed to work on it. He preferred other duties, but when it came to establishing diplomatic promises, Kiara found that he had a knack for that sort.

Adanna, however, was not and is still not impressed by him, and her relationship with Kiara faltered again. She believed her mother was dishonoring Kovu's memory, an argument Kiara says is not true at all. Defir tries to win Adanna over, but so far it has not worked.
