Personality: Insane, powerhungry, and cold-hearted. Abel lives under the false assumption that if he is successful in his plans, then the world will be a better place. He is manipulative, and cares for no one but himself and Zuri. Even those who pledge loyalty to him hold no endearment in his heart - they are strings for his masterful plan, and nothing more. A liability, he otherwise may call them. He pledges his word is law. He is also very egotistical.

His Relationships:

His parents: Despite becoming insane beyond belief, Abel actually loved Kiara and Defir very much. He never wanted to disappoint either of them as a cub, and was sad whenever Kiara was sad. It was the main reason he had gone out and gotten himself clawed across the face. Even as he became darker and beyond all reason, Abel still cared about his parents. Kiara's death was a hard blow for Abel, and when Defir became despondent, Abel took care of his father by placing him in the care of Mawusi when he was too busy.

His grandparents: Contrary to his loving relationship with his parents, Abel actually hated Simba and Nala. He felt they were going to take away his seat of power, and regarded him lowly. When he sentenced them in exile, he felt no regret for his actions, only that he knew he was doing the right thing.

Adanna: Because Adanna ran away when Abel was born, he never knew about his sister until she returned years later asking about their mother. Like with his relationship with Simba and Nala, Abel felt no love for Adanna. She was a nuisance to him, nothing more.

The Apostles: Abel's 'security' group of loyal supporters - this group includes Yejide, Ishonda (at least until she becomes distrustful of Abel), Katura, Mawusi, Ramla, and Sarafina. Out of everyone in the group, Abel only truly valued Mawusi, as he had displayed unwavering support, and trust. Enough trust that Abel only entrusted his father's care with Mawusi. Abel somewhat valued Ishonda (to an extent), but for the others, he only cared about them as his fellow supporters and nothing more. Even though Yejide and Ishonda (before she fell in love with Nunka) were in love with him, Abel barely registered their presence beyond needing a favor from them.

Zuri: Abel's true love. Even though Zuri is not a corporeal being, Abel feels such an emotional attachment to the equally insane lioness that he would go up and beyond for her. As far as he's concerned, she's the only lioness for him. Unfortunately for Abel, Zuri doesn't quite feel the same way as he...

His other supporters: This group includes Ashiki, Nunka, Zareb, and Tanabi. Beyond feeling Ashiki is a useful benefit for him, Abel doesn't think any higher of this smaller group of supporters either. Even calling him his 'supporters' is stretching it to a high extent - out of all of them, only Tanabi has unwavering trust in Abel.

History: Not long after Kiara and Defir became mates, Kiara was found pregnant. The entire pride was excited for the new arrival, except Adanna who became more resentful of her mother. She disowned Kiara as her mother and fled the kingdom, but never left the Pridelands. Though saddened by her daughter's unruly behavior, Kiara became ecstatic once she beared Abel. Abel was a playful cub, but too curious for his own good. One day he disappeared, and the whole kingdom was sent into a panic. Eventually Abel returned, but he had three deep scars on his face, and even his eyes seemed different.

Whatever the incident was, it changed Abel for the worst. He developed a loner complex and always excused from mingling with his family. His personality became unstable, and he bullied both his parents, who were both shocked about his new behavior and who found themselves unable to punish him.

Eventually Abel began dreaming of a lioness - a lioness who was no longer leaving, but found herself in between Heaven and Hell. Her name was Zuri, and she began poisoning Abel's mind, telling him that she had been wrongfully killed by her pride. Abel began to develop an obsession with Zuri, taking her story and deciding that he was going to become King and begin a war to destroy the pride who had killed Zuri.

Because Adanna fled, Kiara and Defir had no choice but to pass on their rule to Abel, once they grew too old to continue to rule. So far Abel is patiently awaiting the day he can ascend to the throne, and begin his Great War...
