Siblings: Uru, Nakato, Bakari, Asante

Mate: Abraham (deceased); Juugu

Cubs: Viserys, many others (w/ Abraham); Uzoma, Chippy, Spotty, Scratchy, many others... (w/ Juugu)

Personality: She is neither a workaholic like Uru or is insecure like Nakato. She is confident, and very happy go-lucky. Despite the jealousy from the other lionesses as a result of Mohatu choosing Thema as his favorite mate, the others find themselves unable to truly loathe Kanika as she is too nice for them to hate. She tries to be a mediator between her sisters. and tries to help Nakato conquer her own jealousy, but so far has not been successful. Her biggest flaw is that Kanika is a follower, not a leader, and tends to just go along with whoever is in charge says.

History: Kanika was born in Thema's second litter by Mohatu, and is the younger sister of Bakari. Thema was absolutely delighted to have more cubs, and especially more excited because one of them ended up looking almost like her. Since day one, Kanika and Thema have had a great bond, not to say that Kanika didn't love her father just as much, but sometimes he was too preoccupied with Uru to pay her mind. Kanika did end up striking a strange bond with her grouchy aunt Asabi. If she's not seen following Thema around like a duckling, then she's usually seen with Asabi.

Kanika loves her older sisters, but once she gets older, she soon sees that all is not well between the two of them. Kanika, mature for her age, tries to get the two to stop fighting now and again, and somedays it does work, but other times it's not. Since Nakato is usually the initiator, Kanika tries to help her deal with her own insecurities, but her older sister continues to push her away.

Kanika continued to peacefully live within her parents' pride for years, even after Thema's unexpected demise, but when Mohatu passed, and thus Uru became the leader, Kanika knew she was no longer live in the same home she grew up in. With her sisters and brother Bakari (as her younger brother Asante left them to create his own pride) by her side, the small pride made the trek to find a new home, and escape the horrible drought that cast itself upon the land.

Uru eventually discovered Pride Rock, and the lionesses were thrilled to finally have a secure place to call home. After Ahadi joined, a group of several lions invaded Pride Rock, wanting to have the place as their own. Uru declared to fight them, but, unable to watch that happen, Kanika stepped in, and said that they could take her if they wished. Tempted, the lions accepted, and took Kanika away from her family.

Kanika had an unhappy existence with the lions, as they only wanted her to produce their cubs. She had mated with one of them, but when it came time to deliver, there was a problem, and all the cubs ended up being stillborns. Enraged, the lions decided that she was a liability when it came to producing heirs, but they kept her around anyways. One day, Kanika and the lions came across the Outlands, and were at once jumped by a hostile group of Outlander lions. The lions were chased off, but Kanika was kept behind, mainly because of her dark coat. They took her to the leader of the Outlander pride, and when Kanika confirmed that Thema was her mother, they decided to keep her around.

Kanika lived a very limited life within the Outlander pride, always being survellienced by the others, at least until she could be trusted. But the lion leader, Abraham, took a special interest in her, especially when his mate passed on. He took Kanika up as his mate, and they produced many cubs together, up until his death. After that Juugu, Abraham's son with his former mate, rose to power, and took Kanika as his mate. She continued to bear many cubs to the pride, loving each and every one of them.

Thanks to Kanika, making nice between the Pridelanders and the Outlanders was much easier when Uru came to strike a deal. She was shocked to see her sister living with them, and she had pulled her aside, asking if she wanted to go back to them. Kanika smiled and declined, saying that it wasn't bad living in the Outlands.

Kanika grew to an old age, and eventually passed on. She is the matriarch of the Outlander pride, having been the one to birth many of it's members.
