Personality: As his name suggests, Gunju is very independent and will never settle for being told what to do. He has a very strong protective instinct in him, almost close to being comparable as being possessive over things. He doesn't get offended easily, and can take Adanna's spats and snarks in good nature by responding to her in kind. He likes a lioness that says what she has on her mind, hence why he likes being around Adanna even though they act as though they can't stand the other. In comparison to his (much) younger brother, Gunju is less impulsive and hot-headed about things.

History: Gunju and his sister were the first born in their parents' first litter. They were loners who wished to not be a part of a pride setting. They had another litter a few months after Gunju's birth, and Gunju took it upon himself to care about his siblings. A third litter was in progress of being born, however they were lost when their mother was attacked by pride lionesses when she got too close to their prey, and when she did not stand down and flee. This caused a big rift between Gunju's parents, and they steadily fell out of love. Gunju was a teenager when his mother gave birth to a young lion cub, but because she and her mate had fallen out of love and separated, she abandoned the cub. Gunju and his siblings thought nothing of it, and went on with their lives.

Reaching the age of five, Gunju left to start his own independent life. Following in the pawprints of his parents, Gunju merely wanted to live on his own, and not have anything to do with other lion prides. He did a good job of living on his own. It was years until he found himself a traveling companion, a lioness named Adanna who had mistaken him for someone else. She had been injured and slowly dying of her wounds from a hyena pack when Gunju stumbled upon her, and taking pity he helped nurse her back to help...

... which then began their turbulent relationship. Gunju didn't understand why, but he found himself intrigued by the lioness, who always snapped at him if he continued to prod her too much. Of course, he couldn't help it, she just got wound up so easily that it was almost a crime for him not to do it. So he continued to get underneath her skin as much as she did to him. It came out of left field, but Adanna and Gunju realized that they had a very strong attraction towards one another, despite their constant arguments. They became mates, but promised themselves there would absolutely be no cubs - after all, that would disrupt the lifestyle that they had fallen into, right?

Of course, Gunju has no idea that his mate was formerly betrothed to his younger brother...
