Physical Description: Copper brown fur with lighter fur around her muzzle and belly. She has emerald eyes like her father, a dusty pink ‘pridelander’ nose and pale ear rims. As an adult she resembles her grandmother Nala very much.

Personality: Kala is often the voice of reason amongst her siblings. She prefers to use her brain (unlike Chaka who prefers to use brute force) but if you anger her she won't hesitate to give you a piece of her mind. She is the most responsible of her siblings often acting very motherly.

History: Kala was the second born of Kiara and Kovu’s cubs. She was only slightly younger than Chaka and almost an hour older than her sister Jia. When she discovered her sister was blind she made sure that she was always around to look after her but sometimes she couldn’t be there for her sister.

She was the first to embrace the idea of Jia and Choga’s friendship. Choga could look after Jia when Kala couldn’t and she quickly grew to respect the little meerkat. However she would often have to chastise Chaka for teasing the two.

Kala grew into a beautiful young lioness and was often considered by the pride to be the ‘prettiest’ of Kiara and Kovu’s daughters. Kala would often have to reassure Jia that she was just as pretty as herself when her spirits got too low.

When she was approaching a year old, Kala met Rasul. She first saw him when she was taking a drink at the watering hole, she caught hm staring at her, with a pair of big blue eyes that made her heart beat slightly faster than normal, she quickly returned to Priderock and informed her father about a rogue male that she had spotted, afraid that he might cause trouble.

Then the next day, he arrived at Priderock to her shock, he explained that he wasn't going to hurt her or her family and only wanted to talk and this calmed her somewhat. They began to talk and se found that he was acutally very friendly and then her father caught them. He threatened Rasul and warned him to stay away from Kala, Rasul left quickly which both upset and angered Kala somewhat. She rounded on her father yelling, causing many shocked looks at her less than peaceful behaviour, that Rasul wasn't harming her and wasn't dangerous. She went to sleep that night fuming at her father's behaviour, the rest of the pride gave her a wide berth, but she was soon woken by Rasul who wanted to talk and walk with her.

She liked Rasul more and more as time went on. She enjoyed talking to him and being with him, and slowl realized that she loved him. Then one night, she and Rasul happened across her supposedly dead grandmother, Zira and Rasul's father, Kawanza. They made to leave but she accidently stepped on a log and alerted the two to their presence. They ran but were chased towards the gorge and the river. Rasul stepped in front of her to protect her even though she begged him not to, she couldn't bear the thought of him getting hurt even though Kawanza wanted to kill her but Rasul said he'd rather die than let her get hurt. Kawanza lunged at Rasul and they both fell into the gorge, Kala screamed Rasul's name repeatedly but her shocked brain quickly concluded that he was probably dead and she was left heartbroken.

Zira laughed at her, calling her and Rasul weak and declaring that soon she would have the Pridelands in her grasp and that she would be forced to watch as her family died, this was the final straw for Kala and she tackled Zira with a loud roar. They struggled with each other for a while with Zira gaining the upperhand before the pride, who had heard her roar, arrived and tore Zira off Kala. Zira ran and Kala was quickly taken back to Priderock and asked to explain what had happened. She told them everything about Rasul, how they discovered Zira and Kawaza and how Rasul had sacrificed himself.

Then Chaka noticed two figures approaching Priderock and everyone rushed out to see Rafiki and, to Kala's delight, Rasul. The two were reunited, Kovu let Rasul stay with the pride when he swore to help them foil Zira and Kala couldn't be happier.

When her parents stepped down, Kala became the Head Huntress and she acted as an advisor to her brother when he took the throne.
