History

Iola was born in a herd belonging to a ranch owner. Her grandfather had once been a free horse before he had been caught.

As a foal Iola always wondered what it would be like being free. One summer night when Iola was still young, there came a band of russlers. They rounded up her and her herd, and took them away towards the vast desert without being seen.

Iola was quickly tired out and she collapsed down on the thick sand. The men left her there, thinking she'd never make it.

Soon after a wild horse called Desertsand and his herd came by and found Iola. They nursed her tenderly and Iola stayed with them.
