Personality:

Therefore is known as ‘The Gentleman for a very good reason: this stallion is so well behaved, if you didn’t know better, you’d think he was a gelding. Therefore displays none of the usual bullish, boastful tendencies of a wild stallion. Rather, he has an extraordinary concern and gentleness with every member of his herd, and he even allows other stallions to join his herd and keep their own mares. His thoughtfulness and empathy for others truly set him apart as unique.

Instead of taking in the best mares to continue his bloodline, this stallion willingly fills his herd with the mares no other stallion wants. Whether they’re broken spirited, broken winded or broken bodied, Therefore will take in any mare without a herd to call her own, even if she’s barren or beyond the age of foal bearing. He’ll even take in abandoned or orphaned foals and raise them as his own sons and daughters.

That doesn’t mean, however, that Therefore is a pushover. This stallion will fight to the death to protect his beloved herd. What’s more, he will not tolerate jealousy or bullying in his own herd and any mares in his herd that he finds behaving this way will be dealt with seriously, and may even be kicked out of the herd if their behaviour continues. But when there’s no danger and his family are at peace, Therefore is as gentle as a kitten with mares and foals alike.

History:

Therefore’s father was a black blanket Appaloosa called Never. His mother, the lead mare and Never’s favourite, was a bay sabino mustang called Calico. Little Therefore was born with the colouring of an Appaloosa, but the build of a mustang. His parents taught him well and implanted fine values in his young heart. At the age of 3 years old, Therefore left his birth herd with the other young colts, striking out on their own to form their own families. This bachelor herd travelled together for a few years, but Therefore was troubled by the brutish, arrogant way his half-brothers treated fillies and each other, and he left the herd after a few months. He eventually met up with a couple of colts of his own age called Tri and Woodsmoke, and he banded with them. The three young stallions were a lot alike, and spent a great deal of time observing the other mustang herds. All three were horrified by the way some of the stallions treated their mares, and Therefore vowed to take in oppressed horses when he formed his own herd.

After a few years the bachelor band went their seperate ways to form their own herds. The first night on his own, Therefore stumbled upon the territory of a much older stallion and his herd. The young male pleaded for the stallion’s mercy, promising that he wasn’t there to steal his mares. The stallion listened to Therefore’s pleas, and, being kind at heart, allowed Therefore to travel with his herd on the borders as a lookout and guard. Therefore was delighted and took his job very seriously and responsibly.

Therefore learned much wisdom from that kindly older stallion, and as a result of his thoughtfulness, Therefore has vowed that, when he has a herd of his own, he’ll extend the same consideration to other young stallions, and give them a home in his herd until they are ready to move on.

• If you want to make art of Therefore, don’t worry about getting most of his spots in the right places. The only ones that matter are the three spots on his neck in the shape of a triangle
• Therefore is my oldest horse character, as I’ve had him for about 3 years now. He started life as a role play character, so you might just have seen him around the internet before.
