I simply think balto is a huge hero and I just wish I could meet him if he was still alive

I love the pics of Balto. He was an amazing dog and I admire him so much. He is the perfect example of what dog meens to man kind.

I cant believe they still have his body in a museum! Still looks differnt than what i expected for him to look like. He looks small to me. Still... hes awesome!!!

balto was not a Siberian husky, he was an Alaskan husky, which is similar and bred for the same reasons. they're quite different in terms of color, and a VERY common breed in Rural Alaska. he MAY have wolf vary far in his background, but as far as his owners and historians know, he was full Alaskan husky.

Hey about the fur colour. His real fur colour could have
been brown and in all the other pictures that is there are
all old fashion ones so there is no colour and it just looks
black but it is not. But you could be right!

Yeah, as Writewolf said, it was due to the exposure of the mount to excessive light (and also probably moisture I'm guessing) that the condition has changed...including the color. Balto was, indeed, jet black in life. One must remember, however, that there is no life left in the skin of the mount, and thus, the follicles feeding that fur. Nothing to maintain the pigmentation of the fur. To protect it. Good pics, by the way! You have a few I didn't yet have, which I had posted (along with pics of Togo) in the True Story board in the forums. I invite everyone to visit and have a look around!

He was a pure bred husky in real life.

I love the pics, but if Balto was half wolf, wouldn't he be afraid of humans? That is what wolves are like. But, on his other side, he is husky. Which makes him good wirth people. But would he be edgy around people if he is half wolf?
