I know Balto died after the stat. was built. I think they should have buried him by the stat. in fond memeroy of him.

Balto was not a Siberian husky, he was an Alaskan husky, which explains why he looks different. there isn't any REAL confirmation that he was half of part wolf, but i've seen a lot of wolf-dogs and he looks like he might have a bit in his distant background, as most Alaskan huskies do.

The Alaskan husky is a VERY common breed in Rural Alaska, and they are very friendly dogs. if you want to compare The real Balto to Other Alaskan huskies, here is a link to some info on them!

That is him on display at the museum. he is not really that brownish color, he was actually black and white, the lights messed up his fur. Just if you didn't know!

I've seen photos of him in the museum before. I just wish they
wouldn't have stuffed him-it gives gets me sad, and it's kinda freaky.
And no, he wasn't really a wolf-dog, though they are real.

i say they should have done the colors more accurately in the movie...

Some people think that Balto was black, i thought he was
brrown, but it might look black by the black-and-white pics.

They should try a dog-fur friendly dye to make his fur color
the way it was ;(.

They put him in there to honor him, and it keeps more
knowledge of him. Many people don't even know who Balto is,
let alone a dog. Balto was a husky though. He was only half
wolf in the moive. Huskies resemble wolves a lot, that's why
he looks part wolf, but it's highly possible that he was
part wolf. I agree, It's some what a dis plesure to see him
in there but with every thing there are ups and downs. Main
part is to keep your mind wide open to them all.

i think its an outrage that they put his body in a museum! and yes, he was part wolf, i can see that, and they just deny that he was part wolf because they wanted to keep a good image. i already saw this happening, dont ask me, im just mad now. B(

producers said they just made him part wolf as entertainment

He was 14 when he died. At least I find comfort he lived
fairly long. But yes, he does look wolfish. Though perhaps
it was a little further in his family traits.

He *doesn't* look like what we think of as pure Husky, but
Sami is right, you'd be shocked at how much breeds change
over time. And yeah, he wasn't part wolf in real life, they
just wanted to add another dimension to the movie. Anyway,

have to remember that the breed has probably changed over
time, just like alot of other breeds. That and this is the
dead Balto we are looking at that has been stuffed and has
been in that glass display for a loooooong time now, so his
