What i don't get is why balto (real) and balto (cartoon) are so diff.? The real balto looks very furry or shaggy when the cartoon looks more wolf like and smoother and less shaggy.                                                                                                                                                                       And the real balto looks black or very dark brown while the cartoon balto looks dark brown and light brown in areas. And the real balto had less of a marking area when the cartoon balto's markings are all underneath him.                               



                       and balto looks more wolf and dog like when the real balto looks like a huskey and has no wolf in him.

I agree with DaughterofNiju; since the film was an animated movie, I believe that the creators didn't think that the real Balto's body structure would "look right" in their film, so they built the movie Balto to look more...cartoonish. (And the real Balto did look like a little, stocky bear )

I never really got that either. I think its because the real Balto's build wouldnt look right as a cartoon. He wasnt half wolf, he was three quarters wolf, meaning he was a hybrid, so his body didnt look wolf or dog. His legs were kind of short and he was a little unproportionate, and his markings were very unusual. He was a beautiful animal, his structure and markings just would have made him seem more bear-like than wolf-like if the animators were to make him look like the real Balto.
