Character Traits

Personality:

A kind, pleasant fawn, Gobo was always up to make new friends. He wasn’t really a target for bullying, mostly because he just had some trollish response prepared – he always retorted in the most amusing – if not cloud-brained – ways. He’s a bit insensitive, and has a bad tendency to not realize he’s said something off until he’s hurt someone’s feelings and always feels awful about it. He hates being around those who take joy in others’ pain, and often times hung out with Ronno before his father died, thus causing Ronno to retaliate by hiding his grief behind a tough-guy façade and, in turn, became a bully. This also makes Gobo upset – he had been Ronno’s best friend when they were very young, and seeing someone Gobo likes turn into some kind of monster breaks the young buck’s heart. Gobo’s the kind who is also very naïve and trusting, often leading him to be easily manipulated and used.

At his worst, he doesn’t understand he’s friends with someone who, behind his back, is a terrible bully and cruel as they come. When that happens, Gobo absolutely refuses to see logically because surely that can’t be right.  All the same, Gobo has a heart of gold and is quite the idealist, always seeing the best in everyone. Even with that being so, once Ronno caught an interest in Gobo’s sister Faline, he absolutely despised the buck – he’d already become a bully and was the last fawn he wanted around his sister. He refused to see any good in Ronno at all after that, and would always do his best to keep the buck away from Faline. However, Bambi is one of Gobo’s best friends. He would trust Bambi with his life and trusts Faline with him completely.

Gobo is also an impulsive one, and if you get him to being angry, he will say and do the worst things and has a bad tendency to put his foot in his mouth.

History:

Gobo was born with his sister, Faline, to their mother, Eina. Ever since birth, Faline and Gobo had been inseparable. At three weeks old, though, while on the meadow, Faline met Bambi and Gobo met none other than young Ronno.

Gobo knew immediately he trusted Bambi, so he decided to meet this reddish fawn with green eyes. He soon found he was a rare case where he lived with both parents. Gobo was surprised, having never met his own father, and immediately attached to his new friend. They became very close, and Ronno was very brave – Gobo admired him for it. They knew each other for about a month when the news came: Ronno’s father had been hit on the road. Ronno was with Gobo when a bird came about to tell the young red fawn, and he was horrified.

Later on, Gobo wanted to visit Ronno every day to be sure he was okay. But he wasn’t. He started snapping at his old friend, picking fights with other fawns. He was trying to prove he didn’t need a father when it was so clear he was hurt by his death. Gobo put up with it for a good while, until Ronno started showing interest in his sister.

That was where Gobo had to draw the line.

He immediately turned against Ronno, not willing to even think of the possibility of Ronno being with Faline. No, that wasn’t going to happen. He immediately abandoned their friendship – or what was left of it – and moved off to become friends with Bambi and some others. However, eventually, Gobo decided to go explore on his own.

As the sun started setting, Gobo decided he’d return home – however, the dusklight played tricks on his eyes and he only found himself more lost. He eventually wandered onto a road, and was hit by a four-wheeler – having found the fawn to still be alive, the driver called his parents and had the fawn brought to their home. There, he stayed in a field with some horses for his next months until he healed and his antlers coming in, and then the family began playing with him. Once fall came about, though, he was left alone again as the aggression of the rut ran in his blood – though he only sported four points, he was strong.

But that time passed, and his antlers dropped – to his deepest fascination, the young man who had saved his life came into the field and hunted for the antlers, then took them into his house. Gobo really wasn’t sure he understood. He shrugged it off, though, as times returned that he was played with, fed peached and apples, and he ran with the horses as if he was one himself. He was happy with his life, and with the death of Ronno’s father forgotten, he began to trust man unquestioningly.

But the rut came again, and this time, a doe found her way to the fence. Gobo wanted to be with her – he had not seen a doe last year – but he could not jump the fence, nor did he dare to try, not with the barbed wire. He hung about by the fence with her for days and days until the boy must have noticed, for he sadly opened the gate, allowing Gobo to leave.

Gobo did, and was finally with the doe he had been speaking to and wanted to be with, but they stayed near the home of the family for the next months until spring, when the doe gave birth to a fawn. But when he saw it, he remembered his sister and bid fair well to the doe, going off to search for his sister. He travelled most of the summer, resulting in feeble, thin six-pointed antlers that season. Finally, he found his sister and his niece and nephew – Geno and Gurri. He stayed with Faline’s family for many days until the rut came again, and with it, man. Naturally, he assumed perhaps his people who had fed and pet him had returned, and went to find them.

He was met with gunshots, and nearly killed. He ran off, in a new direction, to a new forest. Faline and Bambi assumed him to be dead. Thus, Gobo began his life once more, beginning a hunt for a mate to stay with. What he found was a forest, met with a hostile buck who claimed to own the place. He had encountered the young prince of the West Pine Forest herd, and was forced to fight him. Upon defeating the buck, he was allowed into the herd as the new prince. Gobo accepted the position semi-reluctantly, but resided over the herd as one of them, no more separated from them as any buck. He found himself very happy there.

Soon enough, he noticed an odd doe in the herd. She oftentimes struck out at others, and Gobo what fascinated. He asked about her, and found her name was Fia and her mother had been murdered by a large buck who had wanted her as his doe. Gobo found he quite wished to talk to her, but was rather afraid to.

Eventually, late in the following summer, he came upon her in an old trap which had long ago been set by man. However, given the time, there was no hunting to be done, and she had all the time in the world to try and get out. However, when Gobo offered his help, she adamently refused. Gobo found himself actually quite amused and bedded down very close by, waiting.

Eventually, she gave in to his help. AFter a brief struggle with the snare, Gobo freed Fia. She seemed vageuly thankful.

Later on, they got to talking, and as summer wore on, Gobo found he quite liked the doe's company. Perhaps he even had romantic feelings for her.
