Sheesh! I feel old. Balto is one of the main reasons why I love wolf-dogs (used to have one actually, I miss him ) Though it looks like Universal probably won't release a 20th anniversary edition DVD, I don't think Disney is doing one for Toy Story either.

You're right.
I remember watching it several times on VHS. I had wanted a husky for years after that...never got one but I did meet a few, they're great dogs.

You don't just buy a dog by Googling (you can do research, of course, though to use it as a pet finding tool without educating yourself is another) it... There are people out there who will scam you out of your money, or sell you a sick dog (dogs from puppy mills and backyard breeders). You also should avoid dogs in pet shops. These dogs come from puppy mills. Unless the dog is from a local rescue organization, then it's most likely fine. My local humane society will house cats at Soldain's (a small pet store) to help adopt them out if they've been in the shelter for awhile. A dog should either be purchased from a GOOD breeder, adopted from a shelter, or a rescue group. The breed of dog which a person decides on should also be researched.

I got my dog from my local animal shelter. He's a Basset/Lab mix or a Bassador. But hey maybe DT can do research on it and find out that the mixed breed he wants might be his all time favorite dog breed. However, I will mention that you don't just buy a dog by Googling (you can do research, of course, though to use it as a pet finding tool is another) it... Not to start an argument but I recommend looking up pet flipping and retail rescue. It's pretty scary and much worse than most internet pet scams.
------ Getting back on topic, 2015 also marks the 20th anniversary for Toy Story.
Anyone here besides me thought that Balto was a Don Bluth movie before finding out it was done by Universal Studio and Amblimation?
Interesting note: Balto's release was overshadowed by Toy Story but still did pretty well at the box office.
To this day, both films still have a large fanbase.

Good question unless they saw the movie on Disney channel at some point. Back in the 90s Disney channel used to show Land Before Time movies. Cartoon network did the same thing.

But I will note that, within the last three years or so, the first film is becoming easier to find in stores. You can even find Balto 1 and 2 bundled together sometimes. I have yet to see Balto 3 re-released, but it very well could happen. As for the serum run itself, it hasn't been forgotten at all. There are plenty of people out there who study and discuss the subject. Heck, I believe the school children of Cleveland, OH are educated about the run, as that's where Balto and his remaining team mates lived out the rest of their lives after going on tour. I don't know if your native language is English or not, but it's something that you should consider working on...

I would have loved to see Balto in theaters but I got to see it on VHS.
Much like most movies, the shelf life is the second life. XD
