Pete saw Duke walking around the fence, so he trotted up to him, "Hey Duke! Do you think you can teach me to hunt for rats?" Pete looked so excited! He has always wanted to learn but nobody would take the time to actually teach him.

"Oh okay..." Pete lowered his head and crawled off. He went to see if Zelda would possibly teach him to hunt rats.

"Oh of course!" Peter wagged his tail with delight. "I won't let you down, Zelda."

Peter followed Zelda and layed down next to her. He layed his head on the ground watching the hole intently. As he saw the little head peek out of the hole he had to restrain his tail from wagging. As soon as Zelda snagged the mouse Peter jumped with excitement, "Thats brilliant!" She dropped the mouse at his paws and he sniffed it with a smile. He took in Zelda's advice, "Thank you so much! I'm going to try right now!" He started trotting off, but suddenly realized he was being somewhat rude. He turned around quickly, "Oh, if I may be excused?" He smiled, "Thanks again Zelda!" He ran to the next nearest hole, still in sight of Zelda. Pete thought to himself, 'I can't mess this up...'. He tried to mimic Zelda exactly. It seemed to be taking forever, but he knew it would take some patience, but he waited it out. Soon he could see little whiskers poking out of the hole, he tensed up but continued to stay still. Soon the mouse was completely out of the hole and he took his opportunity to pounce. As fast as he could he took a leap for the mouse, but somehow ended with a mouth full of dirt. He looked up to see the mouse making a run for it, he tried pouncing again, but the mouse was fast. It tried to make a run for under a nearby car but Pete wasn't going to let it go that easily. He ran as fast as he could, his agile body was low to the ground and as he near the mouse he took a final pounce and ended the mouses life. He trotted to Zelda and dropped his kill, his tail was wagging a mile a minute. "I thought I almost lost it!" he laughed, "Really though, Zelda, I really appreciate you taking the time to teach me."

Oh that'd be great!!

Pete:

Pete waited for Zelda to finish her food and walk off, he then grabbed his catch and went on a search for the Alpha. He found him sitting on top of his truck and approached him. He dropped the mouse and bowed his head. "I learned how to hunt today, thanks to Zelda. I caught my first ever mouse!" he wagged his tail, "I wanted to give it to you though to show that I have learned."


Riley:

Riley was disapointed in himself, he was way in over his head back at the junkyard. He had been wandering for a while now, but wasn't keeping track of where he was going which was dangerous to do in the desert. His head was filled with anger for his actions. He stopped on a little ledge overlooking the desert, he mainly saw some shrubs and cacti. Nothing too impressive. As he was about to turn around and head in the other direction something in the distance caught his eye. He could see something walking out in the desert. He squinted but couldn't make it out with just one eye. "Hmm. It could be a good meal." he said, then padded off toward the unknown animal.

Pete knew the alpha was disinterested, but didn't take it to heart. "Thanks. I will have to ask Duke about that." Pete wagged his tail and padded away.


Riley neared the stranger. He sniffed the air to get some sort of clue as to what it could be. He came into sights of another dog. He was shocked to see this dog, since he had never seen it before. He stood tall and growled, "Friend or foe!" Usually he would have just taken down a dog no big deal, but he sensed something different about this dog.

Riley plopped his bottom on the ground with a gust of sand swirling around from the force. He scratched the back of his ear and laughed, "Friend, eh? We will see how long that lasts. Names, Riley. How bout yours?" He was quite surprised to see a female dog wandering by herself. Usually they are guarded by larger males or packs. "How long have you been out on the desert?"
