New barrage. Lots of stuff here, including some animal shots, a couple of new mushroom shots, some shots of decorative "pampas grass" in my neighborhood, tons of clouds for Mighty (ha!), some more shots of my two awesome Australian Shepherd dogs (Milo and Izzi), a couple of shots from the local dog park, and some selected shots from my recent visit to Kansas City, Missouri (and most of them of the "Barry Allis Plaza" in the downtown area, which is where I was during the stay...a business trip). Though I think I'll do Kansas City as a separate post. Sorry for the size issues...still working out the bugs of how to navigate around Photoshop Elements. lol 1. Random Animal ShotsNot only a few more of the deer in the neighborhood...including an attempt to shoot, with the camera of course, a young male who was wooing some lady deers (I know I know...that's not grammatically correct...I misspelled that one purposefully so that you'd know that I was referring to the fact that ol' stud muffin was wooing more than one female...lol). I also had a great shot of him looking right at me, but it ended up really blurry, as I was walking my dogs at the time, and once they saw the deer, any attempt at good shooting went right out of the proverbial window. After that is a couple of nice shots of a tiger swallowtail butterfly which was very cooperative to being photographed. I'd have gotten closer to get even more detail, but again...was walking the dogs. lol This was the best I could come up with at the time. 2. MiloHe's my best buddy! 3. IzziAaaaand she's my best little girl! 4. Mushrooms 5. Pampas Grass 6. The Dog ParkI go there as much as I can with Milo and Izzi. Izzi goes nuts playing frisbee, and Milo prefers chasing a tennis ball thrown with a "Chuck It" toy. lol Pictured here is a year-old male Siberian Husky named "Boo" (well, I don't know how his owners spell it, but that's how they identified him. Weird name if you ask me), playing with a mixed-breed female named "Cleo". Boo was very friendly and playful! Cleo, of course, is a regular at the park, and pretty sociable too. 7. CLOUDS, MIGHTY! CLOOOOUUUUUUDSSSSSS!

PART TWO: my trip to Kansas City, Missouri. Okay, this wasn't a site-seeing, touristy visit. I was there for a medical conference, representing the company I work for. So my activities and time were largely confined to that, and to the small area of downtown Kansas City referred to as "Barry Allis Plaza" (and the active "Power and Light" district). The photos shown here are of features of the plaza, buildings around it, and a couple of shots from the Marriott Hotel Downtown where I stayed. Kansas City is one of the strangest cities I've ever been in. For one thing, the region is flat and open (typical of a midwestern U.S. city buried inland). But what's even stranger is that, unlike almost every city I've ever been in, anywhere in the WORLD, the "rush hour" traffic is practically non-existent! Morning rush hour, afternoon lunch and evening rush hour don't seem to exist in Kansas City. lol Either that, or the traffic runs around the outside of the downtown area. But every other city I've ever visited has what you would expect during the peak traffic hours: insane bumper-to-bumper traffic, lots of foot traffic, and noise. During peak traffic hours in Kansas City? You could cross a city street (even jaywalking) and take your own sweet time doing so. It was a culture shock to me. 1. Bartle Hall Convention CenterThat's to the right of the photo. And it's a BIG building...a few blocks long at least. The formations on top of the building are called the "Skystations". I don't know whether or not they actually serve any purpose, but I believe they are decorative. The building to the left, in the background is Municipal Hall (a concert and performance hall). The clamshell-shaped building between the convention center and Municipal Hall, in the far background, is the Kauffman Center For The Performing Arts". Sorry for the weird lighting effect...this was taken from a second-floor window in the Marriott Hotel Downtown so I could get a good angle on the shot. 2. The SkystationsDetail on those formations on top of the convention hall. 3. Bas relief on the Municipal Hall 4. Bronco BusterA bronze statue dominating the center of Barry Allis Plaza, with a dedication plaque explaining it (shown below) 5. Speaking of that fountain...The fountain you see in one of the photos above takes up almost one full block of the plaza, and faces the Marriott Hotel Downtown. Pretty nice! Though I understand that, for certain sporting events, they color the water blue (with dye I think, rather than lights as usual). When the morning sunlight shone on the fountain, it really sparkled rather nicely. 6. Plaza structureNot sure what to call this thing, but it was made of concrete. And there were several of them around the plaza. 7. PigeonOne lone pigeon looking for a handout. lol Another incongruity in a city environment, where you expect a flock of the little buggers. 8. PineFrom a planter in front of the Marriott Hotel Downtown. Thought, in close-up, this might make an interesting shot. 9. Marriott Hotel DowntownWhen I was there, it was going through renovations, so I didn't take too many pics. Not a bad place though. And Marriott owns two hotel buildings on the plaza square, with a covered, elevated foot bridge walkway spanning one of the roads into the plaza. Here are a few random shots from the hotel (the last two are interiors of the elevated, covered walkway).

lol Wow, lots of pictures here! But very nice pictures indeed! The cloud pictures are fabulous! The fourth one, the cloud to the right, looks the the head of a Irish Wolfhound with an open mouth. Did you notice that? xD Image to compare: http://natureslogic.petwave.com/~/media ... _Shot.ashxAnd as a tip to keep the pictures smaller in size, go to file>save for web. By default the file will be in a gif format, at least on my copy of Elements it is. Just change that to jpeg, and make sure that the quality is set to its maximum. Unless you don't mind that it lowers the picture's quality. Then just change the size of the image. Change the first number (the height) to about 600 pixels, Photoshop will do the rest. Then just click apply and save. Good luck with Photoshop Elements!

It's not that Mighty. The automatic settings on my camera choose the best lighting, F-stop, etc. for the picture I am taking, and size it by a certain file size accordingly. Even if I set the physical dimensions to 9" x 6.75" (which I always do), and "high quality" in Photoshop Elements (setting #8), it still depends upon the original file size. My older photos on here, as an example, were set at 9" x 6.75" in the program "Photo Explosion", and that was what I got. And that is about as far as I can explain it. I will just have to set the dimensions smaller.
But thanks for the compliments! Your snake is nice too. If a bit, well, unexpected. lol You and the animals lately.

Actually, the second one was a temporal vortex that had opened above the office as I was leaving for the day. But, gosh darned it, I had no means of getting up there to take a trip! heh...

Roi Doberwolf wrote: Reminds me of a time when I went camping with some friends, and one of them gave marshmallows to one of the squirrels lingering nearby. I think it got a sugar rush or something. It ran from the same two trees for quite a while like a fuzzy ping pong ball before finally deciding on one and running up it. xD Sorry for the double-posting, but I was looking back through the topic at older posts, and wanted to respond to this one. Huh. Giving marshmallows to forest animals. I wonder whether or not that reminds anyone (including Roi) of anything noteworthy or recent date? Saaaaay, a certain CGI movie based on a classic storybook by a legendary late writer of note?
