Geez, I posted this topic nearly four years ago. XD I'm a little surprised that people are still posting here. ^^"
Anyhow. That being said, what I had written here first, I wrote when I was 11 and I sounded kinda like...well, like an annoying newbie. Which I was, but nonetheless, if this topic's still being used, I don't want to look like an 11-year-old on the front page here, so allow me to rewrite this post. XD


SO. Steele and Niju. Both take the antagonistic roles in Balto, but which do you prefer? Who was the better villain? What makes them so? All this and more can be discussed here!

Personally, I'd say Steele's the better antagonist. He was pretty much just a self-centered bully, a "glory-hound", as Jenna put it.

But overall, I prefer Niju. He was just a young pack wolf with the idea that he knew what the pack needed, and he wanted to be the leader, even though he really had trouble seeing the true "big picture" like Nava could. He reverted into "rebellious teenager" mode (no, I don't think Niju's a teenager, but he's young, and that description fits his attitude) and began to form sour opinions on Nava, thinking that the older wolf was too old to know what he was doing anymore, and believing that he did. Of course, it was really just the opposite. (Nava even remarked to him, "I admire your passion, Niju, but do not mistake my old age for weakness, nor your youth for strength.")

I could go on anayzing his character, but I think I'll save that for later. XD

So now it's your turn. What's your opinion on these antagonists?

I dislike them both,but Niju,and Steele do have great voices,I'll say that much for them.

Well, I seriously don't like either of them, but they are both bad guys with huge pride issues and slight weaknesses. (Although Niju's not that much of a bad guy per se. He only fights for what he believes in, that's all. Can you blame him for being such a meanie?)

Steele: He's the popular jerk-- I mean, jock that every dog seems to worship in Nome. He hates Balto because of his dreams of being a sled-dog (not to mention the part of him being half-wolf), and somehow, both of them have their eyes out for the same girl (a la Jenna). Of course, his downfall is that he was such a "gloryhound", he doesn't care what happens to the medicine - he only cares about getting the love and affection of his fans (and in the end, he gets neither when Balto saves the day).

Niju: Despite only being in the final section of the film, he's a purebred wolf hellbent on taking over Nava's role as the leader of their wolf pack. He doesn't fight himself - he's got a group of ne'er-do-wells to do the job for him - but once he's mad, it's time for him to get dirty. Niju doesn't like the fact that Nava believes that Balto has been summoned by Aniu to take his place as leader (mainly because he's "a mutt" and has never led a pack before), but Niju himself dislikes Nava's whole "magic with nature" and the whatnot. His downfall is his fear of change - the pack has to cross the Great Water to survive and find the caribou - and Niju feels that Aniu's messages to Nava are complete hooey. However, when he is given that momentous opportunity to lead, he chickens out and returns to his birth-land (thus giving the role of leader to Aleu, in the end . . . but of course, he doesn't know that part).

Each of them have their own strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I believe Steele is the stronger of the two of them (mainly because you get more time to see how he acts and what he does to make sure Balto fails at whatever he does), but Niju seems to be the one that would be more likely to change out of both of them (he only had a fear of change, and we can recover from fear than a fall from grace).

So yeah, I like them both. I'd still like to know what happens to each of them after the events of their specific films.

Well I'm making a fanfic about Niju that takes place a year after WQ...told in Aleu's point of view really, it's about the two of them I love them together But if your looking for stuff that happens you can read that, it's coming soon. Fanmade stuff. I might do one about Steele and his son, Hyper, too (Hyper belongs to ME!! No one else!!)

egghh, steele totally, niju was a horrible villian much less he reminded me of a rat.

I dislike the both of them, but my vote goes to Steele.

I like both, they where key parts in the good... Than useless storyline, but my vote is for Steele.

Niju, because he isn't evil and more honest with himself and others. Not evil, just trouble adapting and trying new things.

Steele all the way! I think he is more handsome than Niju and he was a better villan in my opinion. Also, I like dogs better than wolves. Steele threw off Balto's trail, used it to get himself back home, and never wanted to give up his role of lead-dog. I didn't see Niju do anything as tricky as that. Sorry all you Niju fans but it is obvious that I think Steele wins.
