This isn't promoting any bad behavior what-so-ever, i think you guys are being a little paranoid. So people drink in Alaska, at least we're being a little more realistic now. After all the talking dogs and clueless adventures you'd think they deserve a little bit of realism

Of course, most people don't seem to realize that prohibition laws were in effect in the 1920s, even in the Alaska territory. And Nome experienced them as much as any other Alaskan town. So there would have been no open bars or speak easys. Any drinking was done under cover and illegally.
And yet, many buildings of the gold rush era of Nome, including old bars and saloons, were standing abandoned, and were probably lived in by squatters, or repurposed into other businesses. And then, when the prohibition laws were eventually lifted, some of those old saloons (or all new ones) were once again opened and did a thriving business. I never really gave this topic much attention, but I think this hostorical note is worth consideration. As for the bar, I'd say don't pay it any mind. Now if it were one or two of the other vices associated with bars, that would be another matter in my book (I wouldn't want to see, for example, a positive character smoking; why do you think the tobbacco companies pay celebs to smoke in movies?). Honestly, I think as reasons to give this movie a thumbs-down go, Stella is way ahead of a closed-down bar.

Wow, I didn't know that either, so that just ups the historical ante of this film - first with the US Post Office in the Alaskan Territory, the whole bush plane v. dogsledding stuff, and now this about bars and prohibition. Yay, the last Balto movie is possibly more accurate than its predecessors - OH MY DOG what is this. Again, most kids wouldn't notice it unless it was paused, so I've got no problem with it. And to answer the whole "how'd the dog get up there" question: Surely that dog's got some mad climbing skills, like Balto had in WQ to get to Jenna's window. That or he knew of some secret hideouts in that bar? Dragon Tamer wrote: Honestly, I think as reasons to give this movie a thumbs-down go, Stella is way ahead of a closed-down bar. And LOL, this is so true, DT. Quote-worthy even. - Juuchan17

Bars are not a bad influence. Beauty and the Beast had a bar and we don't bother them about it.
