disney probably didnt bother showing pumbaa's backstory because
1. they didnt have enough time
2. they cared too much about timon
3. they could of been lazy

i still think that lion king 1/2 was a mistake, due to the events at the ending where simba hugs timon and pumbaa(that didnt happen in the first one) and the disrespectfulness to simbas presentation.

Simba hugging Timon and Pumbaa never happened at the end of the movie - them including it in the third one is just contradicting how the first movie ended, totally rewriting the first film's canon events, and not in a good way either. There was no wider view of what happened to be gained there.

there was because it didnt show that in the first film so in the third film it showed pumbaa and timon was there during the battle with scar. in the third film we find that out.

It doesn't mean that it happened in the first film, and as we saw in the final scene it did not happen. If they wanted to show that moment between Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa they would've put it in the film itself, but as you can see they did not. Regardless I still find 1 1/2 to be a discontinuity of the film series.

No. She called The Lion King 1 1/2 a discontinuity (I don't think I spelled that right) In other words, The Lion King 1 1/2, while showing Timon's family (That being the only good thing about it) is nothing more than a disgrace to the saga.

And, in my opinion, Simba's Pride is also a disgrace with so many plot holes the movie should be remade with the characters of the first movie looking like they did in the first movie.
