You know you're writing fantasy when...
~You're going through a tunnel, and the light on the other end makes you think it's from an oncoming dragon.
~You check yourself often for strange markings (guilty)
~You try to count all the ways to keep evil creatures away from you

(This next one's for MR fans  )
~Whenever you feel sick, you have someone check the back of your neck (guilty)

Not guilty of any of these, but the first one reminded me of an lolcat. I don't have a link, but it showed darkness with the barest hint of a cat's outline, two glowing eyes, and the caption, "Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel has claws and teeth."

Speaking of dragons, here's one:
- You find yourself wondering what the draconic word(s) for gentling, taming and/or socializing would be, and which would be most applicable to learning respect for weaker forms of life (guilty). Bonus points if there is no conceivable way to write it in English, but you can pronounce it anyway (not guilty).

I don't check my neck when naseous(thanks for the idea though, XD) but I do check my back for wings occasionally. Heh heh.
What can I say? I'm an eccentric person.

You know you're writing a fantasy when...

~You challenge someone to a duel instead of arguing.
~You hunt for dragon eggs in your neighborhood. (I did once...it was fun.)
~While riding a bike, you pretend it's a centaur, dragon, griffon, unicorn, etc. instead. (guilty)

And I'm guilt of the first part of Dragon Tamer's.

I also find myself studying Anglo-Saxon runes from this Dragonology book I bought incase I ever run across a dragon, and need to communicate with a written language. I can always hope. XDD

I might have done the first one, I'm not sure. I know my brother won't duel me with toy lightsabers because it's too dangerous - for the lightsabers (I can be pretty agressive when armed).
I don't think I've done the second one. And does the third count if you wanted to dress up your bike as a horse and ride it in a knight costume on Halloween, or something like that?

And yeah, I've tried to master those runes, mostly for the fun of coded writing, though. I've also tried, though not yet with success, to master Dinotopian footprint-writing.

You know you're writing fantasy when...
* You want to write a whole encyclopedia explaining the deep spiritual and inter-personal connotations behind ever single position and gesture of a fictional creature's body language, including cases involved in special ceremonies like marriage, funerals, and perhaps healings. (guilty)
* You wonder how different the body language of different types of dragons would be based on the number of legs and/or wings. Bonus points if this includes, in the case of those with more than one head/tail, what different meanings the heads or tails might have. Would a flick of the left tail or a snap of the teeth on the right head mean something different from the same gesture done by the opposite one? (guilty)
* You wonder how a griffin's body language might match or differ from that of a similarly built (i.e. one head, four legs, two wings, one tail) dragon. Bonus points if you have spent an hour or more pondering whether a griffin would have all its feet the same, or if not, which pair (eagle or lion) would be in front and which in back. (I personally think it would be interesting if the difference depended someohow on gender, according to their respective roles in raising young). (guilty)
* You wonder exactly what circumstances would lead a griffin and a simurg to grow up as best friends. (guilty)
* You actually know what a Simurg is. (guilty)
* It has ever crossed your mind to wonder if winged horses, griffins, simurgs, and other half-bird half-mammal creatures would give birth or lay eggs. Bonus points if you somehow think of a way for both to happen, and it makes sense (I can't). (guilty)

You know you're writing a fantasy when....

~When you can't fall asleep, you make up adventures where you are the hero/herione. Or at least someone with magic. (guilty all the way)

~Instead of focusing on school work, you doodle mythical creatures in your math/science/etc. notebook or binder. (you should see my math binder....lol)

~When you don't complete your homework, you think of...creative excuses for why. (i.e. My dragon was having an emotional breakdown, so I had to stop early and comfort him all through out the night.) Bonus points if you actually use it outloud. (guilty. But I never actually say them.)

~You mix two or three different breeds together in an attempt to make a new mythical creature (guilty as charged)
~You've signed your name "____ the Great" or "Sir ____"

I've so done that! XD More than once. Two words; epic fail.

~You debate which book/movie/show comes closest to the "magic language" (All the time. Eragon, or Merlin? XDD)

~You wonder if words are actually needed to use magic (again, guilty)

~You try to mentally communicate with others. Bonus points if the seem to reply. (II've tried with my dog before, just for the sake of it. ^^)

^ I've telepathically communicated with more than one animal, including my cat xD I get an answer every time! Freaky, huh?

~You suspect the pizza delivery guy as a spy for an enemy warlock.
~You wonder if you need to do moves along with words to perform magic.
~You wonder what kind of material is used to make dragon armor (bonus points if you actually research it)

Guilty of the last one.

* You go to a blood drive and wonder how blood types would work for dragons. Bonus points if you admit this to the volunteers or your fellow donors (guilty).
* You wonder if semi-human creatures such as centaurs and satyrs would have blood more like a human's or that or their respective animal halves, and if it would be possible to transfuse blood from one to the other.
* You sell kitchen products and think it would be fun to tell people that the first manufacturer of (insert brand name; Cutco in my case) was the man who made the sword Saint George used to kill the dragon.
* You find yourself using draconic body language when communicating with people. Bonus points if most of the people you communicate with are used to it. (only guilty on the first part).

(I seem to get answers frequently too. ^^ It's cool.)

LOL. I love the first one. Why does it make me think of Maximum Ride, but with magic? XDD

~Everytime your back hurts, you wonder if it is in fact possible to grow wings. (sooo freakin' guilty. Every time.)
~You try to speak to trees (bonus points if they "speak back". I've tried before, and the wind blew right after that, making the leaves seem like they were replying. So cool.)

^Sounds cool :D

~When you have a flying dream, you wake right up and start jumping around to see if anything really did happen (kinda guilty)
~You start talking all properly to sound like you're a professional mage (bonus points if you know what a mage is)

@Paws: I'm somewhat guilty of the first one. I've done it with other things, like becoming a wereanimal...I've had those dreams plenty as well. XDD

I sometimes talk a bit medieval, but I've never tried to sound like a professional mage. (thanks for the idea, though. Lol.)

------

~You wonder what type of magic is real, and often test them out. (Energy from your aura, magic words, wands, etc.) ...(I'm sort of guilty.)
~You have participated in a debate about whether magic is, in fact, possible. (Bonus points if you won the debate)

I personally frown upon experimenting with any form of magic or mysticism in real life. For one thing, it's dangerous even on a purely physical level. Just look at some of the potions in Harry Potter. A lot of them incorporate real plants, several of which are deadly if consumed. Need I say more?

You ponder at length whether dragons, griffins, etc. would understand human comedy such as puns. Bonus points if you decide to base different species' personalities off of particular human nationalities like in Redwall (not guilty on the last part).
