Gina Nagareboshi Gin is a manga by Yoshihiro Takahashi. It's no doubt his most recognizable work that had its first release in 1984-1988, 18 volumes in total. Since then Ginga Nagareboshi Gin get six full re-releases and mutliple compilations.
Ginga Nagareboshi Gin contains two story arcs, Akakabuto Arc and the less known Wolf Arc. The first story arc was adapted into anime in 1986 and it follows the manga rather closely, except a few very minor characters that don't really have any great impact on the plot.
After the defeat of Akakabuto, the story continues with a wolf plot. It all began when a wolf from Hokkaido kidnaps Cross and her pups. Some of Gin's friends are also targets of myserious wolf attacks, who have killed Bemu and Bill. Gin and his followers find their way to the leader of Palace soldiers, Reima. They learn that Reima's pack are rivals to Empire Soldiers that are led by an evil wolf named Gaia, the ruler of Underworld. The ancestors of the two wolf pack once united to fight a five-headed dragon Jaryuki. The wolves who ate dragon's flesh posessed magical powers such as Battouga techniques. Among Palace soldiers there is Fuuga, who is revealed to be the wolf that was once saved by Riki. In a favor, Fuuga taught Riki Zetsu Tenrou Battouga, the same attack that Gin killed Akakabuto with. Palace and Ou soldiers are lured to underworld by Gaia's minion, Thousand Dragon. The fight between the armies begin untill Gaia himself appears. After a long fight, Reima sacrifices himself to defeat Gaia and the two leaders are buried during the earthquake.
After the defeat of Gaia Gin and his soldiers come back to Ou. The next winter Gin lears that Takeda Gohei is close to death. He rushes to the village to say the last goodbye to his old master.
