What's this?

This project consists in proposing yourself to make Source sites similar to the ones you already know : Balto Source, The Lion King Source..., applying the same formula to other films/series.

Because I don't have time to do everything myself, and I'm not a fan of every film/series that exists, I have made a quite simple interface to make the sites. So (almost) anyone can help!

What should I do?

If you're interested in helping, just submit an entry to this contest.

Two possibilities : either you're good at writing, or you're good at designing (or both!)

So, you can submit either a text or a picture, or both.

What kind of text can I submit?

Please submit a short description of the film / series, and/or a description of one character (to test your writing skills).

Write your text into a regular document file (any format you want : .doc, .txt, .odt ...)

Example : /talespin/en/info_general/&id_film=9

Some advices :

- You must write these texts ENTIRELY YOURSELF!!! No copy/paste from another website such as Wikipedia will be allowed! I want ORIGINAL content, don't submit anything if you don't want to make efforts! 
 
- Of course, a good level of grammar / spelling will be required.

What kind of picture can I submit?

You can submit a picture of a design you have created, for a possible new Source site.

And this is what I have obtained when I created the one for Talespin Source (which took me around 10 hours to make - yes, making a good style DOES take time) :

If you'd like to submit a design, just send a picture of your design. You can use any software you want to make it (Photoshop, Gimp, Photofiltre...)
 
It must be "based" on the model I have given above. (meaning that the elements should be at the same place and with the same dimensions) You must only provide a picture.
 
I will only select members who can make styles "on par" with the current sites styles! Quality over quantity!

Some advices :

- Use a "professional" picture editing software, such as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or The Gimp. Why? Especially because these have possibility to manipulate layers, which are extremely important.

- Respect the model given (there are some levels of "freedom", although I will explain more precisely later - for now, just try to globally stick to the model...)

- Respect the sizes : width especially - you can expand heights if you want.

- Keep your "working files" (PSD files for Photoshop, for example) : if you get chosen, the style you submitted may be effectively used for the site that will be created. But it may have to be modified, so keep everything you used to make it!

 

Why should I do this?

The entries submitted will help to choose members who will get permissions to making the sites.

I have set up a very far deadline, but I will choose members progressively, when I think you are up to the job.

What types of sites can I suggest?

In the past, I suggested doing only traditional animated films. Then, I progressively accepted CGI films and modern animated films.

I am now opening the possibility to make new sites of any film or series you'd like, as long as it's animated!

So, anything from western to japanese (Dragon Ball, Naruto...) to european (Asterix, Tintin ...) can be accepted, as well as any form of animation (claymation / stop motion, computer generated, drawings).

Why should I have to credit Hecate for a color scheme? While I was working on the design, I referenced colors from screenshots and the amulate. Any similarities between mine and Hecate's design are only a coincidence. Heck, I didn't even know this site existed on the French side until now.

If I can give you my point of view (if it can help) you should avoid to mix different flash colors. The ideas are nice for Over the Hedge (the shadows, the banner, even if it should have a background I think) but the colors don't fit at all with each other and are aggressive to the eyes. For the one of Mighty, I hope you'll credit Hecate for the design's colors =) My favourite banner so far is the Bambi's one. It's the most original, as it didn't use pictures from promotions but from the movie =) And by the way, Big Hero 6 is a great idea, it's a good movie ^-^

I just want to say , if you are making a banner - don't put a box for screen caps! when first doing WSDS the other builder at the time put a box and it was a pain to code right.You can add it after the codeing is done. also width should be 980 and the hight can be anything but all the sources i have helped with have been 280. also i would love to help anyone with anything,if anyone needs help designing PM me ect

I've submitted a design for SONS. Its not a complete design, but I figured it would be acceptable enough to submit here as a sample. If you would like me to add more detail (adding text and pictures to the menu dividers, etc), I can. I just figured you know what I'm capable of doing.

Cheyanne => For now, only animated films, but someday I may create Source sites for live action films / series... Yes, Big Hero 6 would be accepted Legolas & Babybae => Please submit more than a banner, it's not enough to judge if you'd be good enough to make a full style. I'd like a picture with a full view of the design, like the examples.

To bad Night At the Muesum wans't animated XD I was looking forward to a "Night At the Muesum' source, and I honestly don't know why. I'm great at both designing and writing, (depending on what it's about XD). Would a "Big Hero 6 Source" be acceptable?

Since everyone is interested in doing a Finding Nemo Source, I found a site that has Disney fonts with a Finding Nemo font in it. Hope this can be found useful to the people designing Finding Nemo (Or any other Disney film.). http://www.ultimatefonts.com/Disney-Fonts/

Since Finding Nemo Source seems to have the most input at present, I'll offer my skills at writing profiles. I would also be open to Rescuers Source and Dumbo Source, but as steet said let's do one thing at a time. Speaking of one thing at a time, I guess this is as good a time and place as any to say I could use help with Secret of NIMH Source; I've got someone covering screenshots and site design, but reviews and more screenshots (can you ever have too many of those?) would be welcome at least for my part.

I'm OK with your suggestions, however : - You need to submit something before I can consider making you a site builder, - When you'll be a site builder, and before creating a new site, I'll suggest helping on others that are almost finished first (there aren't too many) - There's a lot of work to be done on the current sites too, most lack activity (I'll create another project for that)
