Other information:

Personality:      Serey is more of a listener than someone who rushes into anything. He may stand beside his friends and just listen to their talk instead of taking part in it. But this calmness makes him very good at helping other deer out of personal problems by analyzing the situation. That makes him a good leader because he can understand the mind of each herd member. He has a problem with standing his ground, though. He hates arguments and dissapointing others, something that makes him give in pretty fast.

Unlike his brother Hunter, he has no interest in things like showing off his antlers, fighting or impressing does. Ironically, some of the young does like him because of this exact character trait, while others enjoy flirting with Hunter, who is a true ladies-man.

It's not as if Serey has no interest in does, but in his old herd, he had never found that one special doe. They were nice, some of them real beauties, but not for him. He is polite, though, and enjoys talking with the does. He is a faithful, trustworthy stag and very loyal to those whom he likes. 

He has a strong urge to make those who put trust in him proud and would do everything to suceed. The only exception is the fact that he is to take over the herd after his father's herd, something he is unwilling to do because he doesn't think he can handle the responsibility of keeping everyone safe. Since his brother is a much better fighter, he would prefer him to be the next leader. 

He feels extremely guilty when he has done something wrong and will carry that weight for a very long time, mostly until he made up for it. 

Likes:           making others proud, calm summer evenings, taking walks at night, being with his family, finding the doe that was made for him, listening to his friend's talking, hearing stories, being around others, having freedom

History:  At the age of three, Coryn left his brother's herd, along with his mate Aurea, a pale goldish-brown doe. The two of them wandered for some time and eventually entered another stag's territory. But that stag was an old one, and Coryn, who was eager to follow his brother's and father's hoofprints, easily defeated him in battle, but spared his life. The old stag had no offspring left, so he willingly gave Coryn his herd, Coryn was happy, and although he had a hard time gaining the respect of the does, he eventually made it.

In  the next spring, his first fawns were born. One of them was Serey, the other was Hunter. And from the very beginning, Huntere hated his brother for one thing; Serey was destined to become the next leader just for the fact that he was born a few minutes before his brother.

Although he had a loving mother and many fawns he could play with, not to speak of the fact that he was a prince, Serey was unhappy with his life. His father always put a pressure on him with saying that one day, the herd would belong to Serey and that he would have to take good care of the does. Luck or doom . it partly depended on how capable the leader was. This frightened Serey, but Coryn didn't take him serious and said, he would get used to it. 

But although Serey stated that he didn't want to take over the herd, Hunter constantly attacked him in his jealousy to show that he was the stronger one. He was, but his father said he could be the leader of the herd's guard. But Hunter didn't want this. The older the brothers got, the more often they fought.

But Hunter didn't hate Serey, and Serey knew it. Whenever he was hurt after a fight, Hunter would come over to make sure if he was okay, although he would say he wanted to make sure Serey acknowledged his victory. 

But after their little sister was born, the boys often fought farther away from the herd, as Eleri had the annoying habit to call her parents when the brothers fought. 

After the young buck's antlers came in, Coryn often took Serey for walks across their land to talk about his future. On one of this walks, Serey exclaimed that he didn't want to be a leader, and his father yelled back that he had to, no matter if he wanted or not, and that he couldn't be serious. In his eyes, leading a herd was all one stag could wish for. 

So, when he reached an age in which he could fend for himself, Serey made up his mind. He couldn't stay in this place where he was pressured in something he couldn't and wouldn't do. So he took a walk with his siblings and explained his plan to them. 

It was simple; he would flee at once and his siblings would tell the herd that he had been shot  He felt extremely guilty because he knew it would break his mother's heart, but he had no choice. And although his siblings, especially his sister, were sad and worried, they agreed. Eleri adored her brother and wanted him to be happy, and Hunter felt the same. And with Serey gone, he could become Great Prince of the herd, the one thing he had always wanted. 

But he couldn't hide that he was sad that his brother left. His last words to him were "Thank you brother. And please, don't do anything stupid. I don't want to have to blame myself for not holding you back." 

It was a very hard task to say goodbye, and Serey asked them that if they couldn't stand it to lie at everyone, they could at least wait until the next rainfall when the others would be unable to follow his tracks. And with that, he left and started a long, lonely journey.

He had started in spring, but when fall was coming close, he still hadn't found a herd where he could settle down. He felt lonely without anyone of his kind he could talk to. And during this time, he often thought about his family, if they missed him very much and if Hunter would be a good leader. He felt awful for leaving them and doubted if he had made the right choice, but he went on in hope of finding the place where he belonged. 

That was when he met her. A chocolate brown doe who was grazing all alone. He hadn't sensed anyone of his kind, so she most likely was a loner as well. He approached her and she seemed surprised to meet another deer.

The doe's name was Malia, and she had been seperated from her family when she was only half a year old. She didn't tell him what exactly had happened, but he didn't need to. He was just happy that he finally had some company.

Malia at first was relucant to join another deer for she had been alone for such a long time, but  she found out she rather liked the young buck's manner. He didn't urge her to talk, he was just...there. Since she wasn't a very chatty person, she liked that. 

So they travelled together as friends. But the more time they spend together, the closer they got and the more often one could find them nuzzling or frolicking in some meadow. After a while, they were more than friends and Serey eventually asked Malia to be his mate. She gladly accepted and when November arrived, Malia was sure she was pregnant.

In search for a herd where they could raise their fawn, they encountered the most terryfying thing any deer could meet aside from man - wolves. A whole pack of them. The couple ran away, but the wolves were quick and caught up to them more and more. 

To save his mate and unborn fawn, Serey distracted them so Malia could flee. While doing so, he was hurt badly by one of them, but managed to lose them. When he met up with Malia again, he collapsed and she laid down beside him, warming him and praying he would make it.

But unfortunately, one wolf had been able to track him down. Malia saw its figure in the shadows. She wanted to make Serey get up, but he was too weak. The wolf attacked and...

...stopped.

In a heartbeat the wolf-lady had realized that the doe was Malia. Her friend had grown, but she was still the same. Serey was confused, but Malia, who had recognized the carnivore, told him it was her old friend Pikatti, who had grown up herself.

Both females were happy to meet again, but Pikatti told them they had to leave, the pack would soon find them, and with some effort, Serey stood. Pikatti showed them the way to the closest herd, which was the Silver herd. The leader Malvon allowed the couple to stay, since he couldn't send an injured deer away.

Serey's injuries healed slowly. and he and Malia really got along with the other deer in the herd. Malvon asked them if they would like to stay, and they agreed, happy to have found a home. 

In spring, they had their first daughter, Lyra.
