Much-Needed Updates | Tweet |
Hey everyone, Paxis here.
First of all, I apologize for the lack of fan news around here on The Lion King Source.

I've been meaning to announce for a while that there won't be a Timon & Pumbaa section, or atleast not any time soon, due to the fact that we've encountered some programming errors needed to complete the section. The section is there for the future in case we obtain the programming we need, but for now it's dead and unopened.
Now, on to brighter news. How's about our much-needed site and forum [...]

2011: A Year in Review | Tweet |
This past year has been one of the largest in animation history, wielding a total of 14 films commercially released in English-speaking countries. Of these, 9 were sequels, continuations, re-releases, or otherwise Smurfy. Three were traditionally-animated, two were entirely motion-capture, and four ended up in the Top 10 Grossing Films of the year.

Let's take a look at the films released this past year, in release order. Beginning with Gnomeo and Juliet, which was released in America on February 11. It opened at the #3 spot its opening weekend, grossing [...]

This piece of news came about in an obscure way. The previously-announced Pixar film involving dinosaurs has had its release date replaced with, you guessed it, The Snow Queen. However, there's a new piece of information emerging: The film is now entitled Frozen.

This practice of changing movie names is not new to Disney; before Tangled was released, it was advertised and produced under the name Rapunzel. The idea behind this is to make it clear that these films are aimed more toward families and both genders, rather than kids--specifically, little girls.

To celebrate the Christmas season, Animation Source has begun to snow! (Yes, snow!)

The "snow" season is forecast to last up through the end of December, into January, at least! If this turns out to slow your computer down too much, you can easily make it stop snowing by pressing the "Stop Snow" button at the top of any Source page. To start it again, press the same button, which will now say "Star Snow".
Snow has been a tradition on Animation Source for several years. Have fun watching it snow!
