Yesturday I've worked on re-making the comments system. You probably won't really notice the difference, but this way it will become much easier to manage it. You can see it though because now, the form for posting comments is separated from the rest.

There's a "whole new" section on the site, that I wanted to make since a long time : the "Questions and answers" section! Now, anyone can ask a question there and anyone can answer it. First of all, I've finally been able to correct the "banned" problem on the forums. Some of you wouldn't be able to access the forums because it would say that they were banned, which was not the case. It would happen when you wouldn't have any email addresses written in your profile.

A bit related to this, I've added something so that forum mods will be able to ban people (temporarily or indefinitely), and shout boxes mods too.

I've finally got some time this week end to make some modifications to the site, some things that were planned since a loooooong time but which I couldn't do because I hadn't time.
Here is the list :

- I've finally deleted the inactive accounts on the site and the forums, to make some space, as I said in a previous news. If yours was deleted, this means that you didn't really use your account so you only have to register again.
- There's a anti-robots script on the site, so it should reduce the site bandwith a little and avoid spamming robots.

Answering to the calls of many members, I've added two new sections on the forums :
- The Roleplaying section has been divided into two parts : the Balto/TLK specific section, and another section for everything else. In this section, every kind of  RPG topic is allowed.

- A "True Story" of Balto section, for talking of everything about the true Balto.

There are a few new moderators on the site.
First, there's one more moderator on the shout boxes : Snowpaws. It should be the last one, except if I find someone to fill the "gaps" when there is often no mod on the shout boxes.

New mods on the forums too : DrewTheWolf, Mario, Writewolf, Whitewolf(uk), and Black Shimmer.
This should help getting the forums easier to live. (I hope). Please give their chances to the new mods.

Also, I have added something so that banned people won't be able to send private messages anymore. This should help to prevent some people to send harmful messages, such as [...]

I've "hired" four new mods on the shout boxes : Danman, Kari, Suka and Rockyjet, which makes a total of 8 moderators on the shout boxes for now. I hope this will help.

Also, I would like to say that I will probably delete a lot of accounts that aren't used, both on the forums and the site. (no messages posted, no fanarts, no fanfics, etc)

According to the recent problems (see the previous news), I've made a few changes.

First, I now display a list of the mods at the top of the forums, and at the bottom of the shout boxes; so that everyone can know who is mod on the site.
Also, this list includes a link so that you can directly contact by private message a moderator (chosen by random) and explain your problem - whatever it can be.

The second thing is the new "report to a moderator" button displayed near every message posted on the forums. Whenever there is an unacceptable message written on the forums, you can directly report it [...]

Drewthewolf and GK have stopped sending news about their Balto 4 projects. They won't be sending anymore art either.

Why? Because the members on the site have been rude to each other, especially on the whole fanart stealing topic, and I wonder if some people here still know the word "respect". There is a new mod who is in charge of answering your requests of changing your fanart entrance galleries. Dreaming Wolf couldn't do it anymore, so if you requested a change lately, you will have to request a change again. (Requests can be done in the fanart send page -> "Manage my gallery")
The new mod is Spiritgal304. I hope he will do a great job! If you have any questions, contact him by PM.

As you've probably already noticed, I've put the "what's new?" display into a separate section, so that the last news will not disappear in one day.
Also, there will only be a summary displayed on the main page, to get the detail you only have to click on the link at the bottom. This was to reduce the size and loading time of the main page.

Finally, I would like to say that I have currently some problems, so I won't be able to update the site or answer your questions before at least one week.

Due to the requests of many people, and in order to limit the number of spamming, robots, hackers... and other problems on the shout boxes, I've decided that only registered members can now post on the shout boxes.

I hope this will help to increase the level of the shout boxes ;) If you don't have an account yet, just register : it's free and doesn't take even 30 seconds.

Sometimes there will a message such as this one, sometimes there won't, depending on if I had something particular to add. But there will always be the 'What's new?' section now.

I've made a little change in the registering process on the site, so that it will automatically send you an email with your password when you register (if you entered a valid email address)

Also, the RSS feed should now work again - but I can't really test it so you'll have to try and see.

I've added a new important function to the site.
Now, only one news will be displayed in the front page at a time. Why?
Because now, I display all the new things that were added on the site during the day! For now, it includes the articles, the fanfics, the music videos, and the forum topics. If you want a good example, just look below :)

The fanarts will follow, but before it can works I need to make some changes to the fanart system first.

Also, I'll try to use this later so that there will be automatically one news by day on the site, even when I'm not here!

Some people sent me these drawings for my birthday, which was yesturday. (the authors names are written on the drawings)

In order to shorten the length you have to wait before seeing the fanarts, fanfics and articles you sent to appear on the site, I've named a few more mods.

For doing this, I had to translate parts and make documentations for using my admin. But it should now work fine, and I'll be able to take more mods in the future much easier. (although, remember : don't ask to be mod, or you will never be!)

Following the recent server issues on the site, I've decided to prepare the future of the site by adding a Paypal donation system on the site.

You see, there are more and more visitors on the site, and this is beginning to be a problem. The server failures were hardware related so not directly related to this, but the server will probably won't be able to cope with this increase infinitely.

So, I've decided to pay for my current host, but I'll probably have to find my own host one day or another, and this will be more costy...

As you've all seen, the server has experienced problems and has been reinstalled. We're not sure if the problem is really solved, that's why I will not make any major change on the site until at least a week. I will try to correct some little problems I have found to find stability.

Also, one important thing for the fanarts : this time, I have disabled the context menu (right click) on the fan art pictures. I didn't want to prevent honest people to save the pictures for themselves (for example, for using them as a desktop), but I think I had to do something. So, no context menu at all. (and [...]

The server used for the site is currently having severe issues, explaining all the database breaking and the 'site unreachable' periods. So if you can't access the site sometimes, don't wonder why.
The reasons are still unknown for the moment (maybe a problem with the server hardware). In any case, I may  look for a new host for the site soon.

I suppose everyone knows it, but there was a problem with the login and the forums, due to a damaged table in the database. I received more than 50 emails about this...I wasn't here so I couldn't correct it, but now it should work fine.

As this 'database corruption' problem happens pretty often these days, I will try to add an automatic script on the site to repair the tables.

The fanfic send system hadn't changed much since the beginning. So, I've taken it to trash and started a whole new fanfic send system.
Here are the new things you'll be able to do now :

- Edit the text of your fanfics (even fanfics already sent)
- Write your fanfics directly on the site! Using the editor I've already talked about previously.
- You can write them in several times, no need to send short fics because you don't want to write something long online.
- Choose between 3 send methods : writing online, sending a word file (as before), or link to an external site page

I've added the Spaw editor (already used for articles and private messages) to help you edit your profile in a better-looking way.

I've also updated the wallpapers section; this is a section that I hope to re-make entirely, when I get the time...

I've made changes in the layout of the sites (for people who know web programming, I've changed the site code to a nearly fully CSS code using 'div'.)
This has the effect of displaying the site pages quicker (especially with Internet explorer, which will now display the site progressively instead of 'at once')

The layout changes also include a few new things : the banner links are more visible, and the text fields and the buttons are more integrated with the site design. (notice : they will be displayed much better with a recent browser such as Firefox)

I've added an administration page that allows you to read your messages, directly on the site. They are the same messages that you could receive on the forums previously, but now everyone can send messages to anyone else who is a member on the site.

Better yet, is the fact that you will be warned that you've got new messages (in the 'connection' form at the top), and by clicking on this link you will access directly to your messages!

To allow content to be sent more easily, I have added a 'word-like' editor on the site (it is a free PHP editor named 'Spaw editor'.
For now, it works for the articles, but it will also be available for the fanfics.
With this, you can write text and , just as you would do on Word, instead of writing any HTML code - so anyone can use it.
So, you'll be able to add pictures and links in articles more easily now. (place them exactly where you want them to be)

I've added RSS support to the news on the site. I suppose this doesn't mean anything to most people, but it's something that will be heavily used in the future (especially with the upcoming Internet explorer 7 and Windows Vista)

RSS files allow you to get the news of a site without actually visiting it. When a news is posted on the site, you can be warned by your RSS reader.
There are many RSS readers available, and they are already supported by Mozilla Firefox.

It's been some time since I added a news, but that doens't mean I haven't done anything, on the contrary.
I've done most few things listed in the previous news, and I have added a lot of other things. This includes :

- a link to get a new password if you forgot it (displayed if you try to connect with a wrong password),

Maybe you've already noticed this, but I've done a major change in the site system. Due to many problems caused by
the fact it was impossible to identify someone precisely on the site (so, anyone could use the username of someone else for example, or could send fan arts in someone else gallery), I've decided that it was necessary to register on the site to be able to send content on the site. This will be the last news on this site. Considering that there is no more hope for Balto, I've made up my mind, and I have decided to move to other projects.
I know most of you wanted me to make another site, so I do believe all of you will enjoy this news : finally, I am making Barbie Source! You know, I've always loved the Barbie dolls and the films. This is my first (big) project, and I have already made the design!

Balto Source has registered the Amazon partnership service, which means that you will be able to buy the Balto films (and more) directly on this site!

This way, I hope to get more people to decide to buy the Balto films, especially the new fans visitors. Amazon may not have the cheapest prices, but they are very reliable, and ordering from the web has a big advantage : it's possible to find the films when they are difficult to find in stores.

- Many new articles (nearly one article by day now!), including one that I've written, which tries to explain the plot of Wolf Quest.
