I use Windows Paint, I think. Although, their apparently was an older version, but I'm not sure if it will help. Why?

So how do you make your characters? Cuz there's just no way you do that with Paint. What program, may I ask, do you use? Like, Windows Paint, Microsoft Paint, Photoshop, GIMP?

Thank you Fire! I'm glad you like my bases. And its true, I do need help with how to use the tools, since I'm sort of new to paint.

XSilencex, you should not say "no one" wants to see WildWind's colored bases, it's all in opinion. It is her style of making images, and if you don't like it, well then I suggest you don't look at her images. It took me a while to look for the tools, and get help from others. It was nice that I took my time to get used to it, and finally post some bases of mine up. If you are only trying to give WildWind a point on how to find the tools on paint ( or whatever you use ), and to stop making colored line arts or bases, then here's some tips. 1 If you don't enjoy WildWinds renders, or colored line arts, then don't look at them at all. 2 If WildWind can't seem to find the tools, then at least send her step-by-step pics of how to make bases, and then see if she has it, if not, ask a mod to help, or suggest using another editor, or get more help from family, friends, friends online, you tube, or even googling it. It is all in the hands of time. Don't give up WildWind if you are feeling pressured, or just even confused or upset, just give me a pm and we can try to talk things out. I know some people may not enjoy your images, but if they don't, then why are they looking at them, really?! No offense, but sometimes I am a little confused myself. XD WildWind, it took me ages to figure it out, but maybe asking a parent, or friend(s) might help too. That's how I kind-of got used to it. I am starting out with paint, then moving to gimp, photoshop, exct. Art can even be coloring in lines, like when I was a kid, I used coloring books left to right, then drawing on my own, and you know the cycle. It all will take some time, don't worry about it, I'll be right by your side when you need a shoulder to lean on. ^^ P.S. I enjoy your bases, and your ideas, some people just don't have the time, or money, or their own time to deal withit, don't worry we are on the same page. - Firefangfox

Thank you, Jenna. I'm actually working on a base at the moment. Gonna start out simple, with images from Balto 3, then work my way up to more complicated work. If I ever need help, I'll talk to you.

Hey, sweetie. I'm just here to say that you don't have to listen to those people if you don't want to. Art can be anything, whether it was made by you or another person. That's the great thing about bases/linearts on this source: They provide the boat for your river of creativity (horrible metaphor, I'm sooooo sorry). All you have to do is hop on and let that boat take you where you want to go. Now, I myself am horrible at rendering and drawing. I flat-out suck at it. That's why I use these bases and these blank linearts and these blank renders to HELP me. I mean, sure, these were created by another person, but they were created BLANK, hence the idea that you provide the colors and sometimes the background. As long as you try your best, you will be great, with the aid of others' blanks or the independence of your own. Stay positive, and just know that I'm always here for you, whenever you need me.

Ok. I have calmed down, thought of my actions, and realized that I was acting childish. I'm sorry if I got anyone angry, I wasn't thinking strait. It happens from time to time. If it does, ignore it, I'm just an idiot in that way XP I apologize for what I did, I know you were just trying to help.

Ok, good bye. I won't be on for a while now. Only to update characters, maybe and to answer anything else somebody says. And I know its true, Silence. But, I can't see how to improve. I don't have an eye for art so to speak. And, I can't find my way around forums. They confuse me greatly, and I'm not sure if anybody can explain them. I know it makes sense, but not many can explain it simply enough for me. I'm not smart with the internet, computers are hard for me to understand. Nobody comments on your renders? I don't see why, they look amazing! I'm not proud of my renders. They are a disappointment to me. If you say I should be proud, that's going to be hard. They don't exactly hold much use. I know its a hint, but it will take years to make a good render. You guys have said so yourselves, it takes time, but in that time, what an I going to do? Not put anything new on my profile for months, possibly years? Listen, I know you guys mean well, but it doesn't help much. I get tips, advice everything, and I try, but they never work. Well, it's pretty much the same thing.
If you want to make good images and expect to be good, then you should at least learn about whatever program you're using so you know what you're doing- it just kind of makes sense.

There are posts on the forums on how to, that is how I learned, I asked questions on one because when I used the new paint I didn't know how to do what they were showing, so I asked, and when someone told me I went and tried it, and WOAH it WORKED. You are acting immature, we are trying to just give some thoughts and you are treating it like an attack, And you say people don't like you renders? I barely get comments on mine that I am proud of, but you don't see me hiding behind bases already made, I still post my own no matter the amount of comments. I like to see where I improved or lack there of, so I can see what to do next time, there will always be someone better, it sounds rude, but I am going to be honest. You have to really want to improve, stop whining when people tell you to stop using bases, because if so many are saying it, it might be a hint. You keep saying that practicing doesn't work for you, you obviously are not taking your time and learning from the mistakes. I am done with this disccusion, you are not listening to what we are saying, you want help, but you are not seeing what we are trying to say. Good luck to you.

Actually, I think I remember trying to send you a PM about how to render and it was put very simply and worded well enough so that anyone could understand, so I'm really lost at how you just can't manage to do it yourself. Hmm.

I've tried to solve it. Never works. I want people to like my images, to use them, but no one does. And its not supposed to be a pity party. I get advice, it never works. I have no knowledge of how paint works, and no one seems to understand that. I know its not a competition, but no one seems to notice any of my images. They go to waste in my gallery. Just sitting there, collecting dust. I'm trying to stay calm, but its hard when you have all this pressure. I am given no time at all to try and make my drawings and renders right. Always, people just bother me. "Stop using bases!" "Make your own work." "You need to try." I have been trying for too long. And it isn't fun. AT ALL. Just frustration when I try my hardest to render and it turns out that it won't work. I'm trying not to act immature, but it happens, to all of us. And I'm NOT wallowing. I've tried and tried and tried for ten-eleven years, practically my whole life, and they don't get any better. I don't know who teaches you guys, but they must have been good. I'm just tired of it now. I'm done. I just need a while to calm down, gather my thoughts, and try to see what I can do.

WildWind, please calm down. As Spirit of the Wild said, it is not a competition. You don't make images to see how many comments you'll get, or how many more you'll get from others, you make them for fun. Rendering, as with most things comes with practice. Meaning, you need to practice it. Meaning, that nobody just gets it right off the bat so there's no need to get frustrated. And if they do, fine, good for them.

Stop acting so immature and stop feeling sorry for yourself. You have people on this site who have been here from quite some time trying to give you tips right now, and you're choosing to wallow in your problem rather than solve it.

All we're saying is to create your own stuff. Plus, who cares about comments? It's supposed to be FUN; it's not a game of popularity.

Oh. Well, no more images. I don't want to let anyone down with one of my horrible bases. The thing that hurts the most is the silence in my drawing gallery. Only four comments out of ten drawings. And that's only because they were for friends. I just feel like its another gallery in a sea of millions. And they are only put in my gallery because they could NEVER pass for actual renders. They look like monsters, just admit it. Can't even pass off as animals, really. Just scribbles on a page. I'm only good with a pen and pencil and paper, but I put up drawings and they look horrible. I still act like an amateur and I've been here since October! I'm always messing up, making mistakes, doing stupid stuff. Most people have been here since the sources started! They've had years of practice, but yet, some are amazing straight away. I mean, look at Firefangfox, for example. She's been here since January THIS year! And look at her bases! They look incredible. Then, look at mine. I've taken advice, tips, everything from many, and I mean MANY people, and I still have tons of mistakes, mishaps, catastrophes, ones that most avoid easily. Nobody will ever use my renders. And pardon if I sound very doubtful and I think lowly of my work, but no one can blame me. I've gotten help from many professionals, but I'm hopeless. No one can help me anymore. Just a lost cause.

Nice? They look horrible. I won't give up, but it will be very, very slow production now. And I don't have that much time on my hands. I've got school, piano, homework, baseball games (my brother), school projects, family matters, and much more. I know everyone has to deal with most of these problems, but I don't always want to be on the site, you know, its nice to see a different background and get away from the complaints and problems and arguments that people have on here. I know that it doesn't happen over night, but I'm not just working on this site or drawings for it. I'm trying to get caught up on Watership Down, making images for friends, and I enjoy making images for them, but I don't want to disappoint them with one of my crappy drawings.

hey wildwind, im making some renders, that you can use but it will take a bit,so for now you should make some graphics, because your good at them and they look nice.

It's really not that hard trying to fill in spaces, all you have to do is use the magnifying glass to zoom in if you're having trouble. Again, like I said, it takes practice. Silence is dead on; you can't just give up if you expect improvement. It takes time, and sometimes lots of it.

No one is telling you to stop making images, we're just a little fed up with the loads of bases coming in day after day. Seriously, even if it's THAT bad, it's still more pleasant to see something someone worked hard on rather than a base. I really hope you don't give up and that you'll keep trying. It's seriously not that hard if you just listen to the advice and try, really try your best.

I know that, but look at some people! Right off the bat, their renders are pretty awesome. Mine are disfigured. Messed up. The lines aren't strait or smooth, and they don't blend well like most. I've gotten help, but it never helps in the least. I appreciate their efforts, but they don't work. I can't render. It takes too long to go over the lines, and I have to color all the pixels white by hand. No tools to help AT ALL. I have to just keep trying, day after day, but it never improves.
