I will address here two of the main problems occuring with moderation on the site recently. I thought this was important enough to display this publicly.

First, the characters rules. As I said in a MASS PM sent to all the moderators, the only valid character rules are the ones written on the site (how are members supposed to know rules that are not visible to them?)
Now, I will request you to be more lenient when it comes to the rules. Everyone has different feelings on what SHOULD be allowed or not, so stick to what is CLEARLY written.

Well, Darkwing #6 has been released since a few days already, and it includes a LOT of cameos from Disney stuff.

The most obvious one is on the front cover...

I've been extremely surprised by the Animation Source visitors statistics lately...

There has been a 70% increase of visitors in 3 days!!!

No joke - this have NEVER happened before, in 6 years since Balto Source is online.

This is, obviously, a good news - but I was very suspicious. It seemed too big to be true, I thought that the Xiti statitics were bugged for some reason. Especially considering there was no external backlink that explained it.

The first theatrical trailer for the new Disney film "Winnie the Pooh" has been released. It gives away a little bit about the stories that the film will be exploring: Eeyore losing a tail and having to find a replacement, Pooh and friends going to find a "Backson", and what Christopher Robin does in the morning.

"Winnie the Pooh", slated for release in the US in July, and in the UK in April, is the newest adaptation of A.A. Milne's original stories. It is being animated by the best animators Disney has to offer,and from the looks of it, it's going to be a terrific film!

It's now official : the new project from Ron & John Musker (aka the directors behind Aladdin, The Princess & The Frog...) is an adaptation from one of the Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, "Mort" !

We were at Walmart on Friday night in the movie section. My husband pointed these videos out to me. I knew that you could get the Rescue Ranger videos online but at Walmart in the rural mid-west? Disney's Robin Hood may not be the most acclaimed film ever made by the company. In fact, it was made during the "darkest" period, a little while after Walt's death and a little before Disney's golden age in the 80's-90's. It had a very low budget and as such, they re-used a lot of animation from previous films.

That didn't prevent this film from becoming a cult one! It's, of course, the first major film that involved "furry" characters and is fondly remembered for that, but has more than enough qualities that helped it become the best version of this well-known tale.

A TaleSpin fan on the web has used some 3D software to recreate Louie's place :

The 3D rendition itself is not bad, but this reminds me just how much I would NOT want to see a TaleSpin CGI series...

Currently on Ebay, the TaleSpin original soundtrack CD by Christopher L.Stone is available (that's a rare new/unopened copy! and remember that there were produced in very limited quantity, something like a hundred...) Of course the starting bid is pretty high (25$) and I expect this to sell at a good price.

Today the fourth episode of SourceCast is being published. Many of you older members remember this, a fan-made podcast celebrating Animation Source and all of its sites. The last episode published was back in March, but now the Sourcecasters are back, with their newest episode "Losing a Son, Gaining a Daughter...wait..."

That's a pleasant surprise : less than a month ago, new TaleSpin DVDs have been released, and (as far as I know) for the first time outside of the USA!

In total, seven DVDs have been released, each containing 4 episodes for a 9€ price (which isn't cheap...)

It seems it's also the first Disney Afternoon series to be released in this country (yeah for choosing TaleSpin!!!)

I hope this means that the same could happen in other European countries. (it seems they got the Lilo & Stitch series several months before it was released in France, so maybe the same [...]

Hey, it's been a few long months since the last Animation Source site opened.

The "Balto Special Edition DVD/Bluray" petition, started more than 3 years ago, is finally closed!

It has gathered around 1600 signatures (which is more or less what the old petition gathered too...) The goal was 2000 but I think it's been going on for too long already.

Now, we need to deliver it. As it "worked" for the previous petition, I think I will need someone living in the USA who would print the signatures and send them to Universal as a regular mail. (NOT email) Would anyone be able to do that?

Universal released its first CGI film this month, and it's...a huge success. Despicable Me is probably the biggest surprise this year, as it generated 118M$ in only two weeks (yes, more than Princess & The Frog during its whole lifespan), while it was produced (in France) for a very small 60M$ budget.

I have upgraded the text editor on the site, which is used when sending PMs, editing your profile, writing fanfics, articles etc...

It used to be FCKEditor 2.0, but it has been renamed to CKEditor for version 3. (Ok, I think no one cares)

The thing is, there is a new graphical interface (which is much nicer IMO, and with a different color on each site), but also a new file/image browsing interface, which is MUCH more practical (thumbnails, renaming, deleting files...)

I have always found strange that The Jungle Book has never been featured in a Kingdom Hearts game. (I'm sure some of you play these games! And if you don't, you should)

Well, actually, it was meant to appear in the first Kingdom Hearts, but was eventually removed because they already had a "jungle-based" world (Tarzan).

But what I didn't know is that it was also meant to appear in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts : Birth By Sleep game. Some people have found scrapped rooms on the game disk, and you can see that on this video :

It has just been announced that Disney is working on a 3D version of The Lion King, from one of the workers behind the project (Don Hahn)

This isn't a CGI version (phew! thank you my lord) but of course a stereoscopic version of the same Lion King film we already know, adding depth to the picture.

I have just discovered that a Disney Rescue Rangers game has been released, for mobile phones! The game is published and developed by a Russian company (Dynamite Pixels)

The game can be downloaded for free (!!!) on this page. In order to download it, you'll need to connect directly with your mobile phone, with a Wap connexion. At least, that's the normal way.

Honestly, I have never seen anything spreading as quick as the "Like" button on the web. I mean, Facebook added that only one or two months ago, and almost all of the sites that I visit regularly have already integrated this...

The USA citizens are very lucky to have Hulu.com, a site which offers to watch many films and series online for free and LEGALLY.

Well they've added the ADGTH series! I think this is recent (or at least, I didn't know about that) and I believe that's a very good thing to make them available for everyone who never got the chance to see such old cartoons. It's far from being a masterpiece (bad animation, among other things) especially when compared to the films, but I think it's still enjoyable and a must-see for the fans.

I've been working on creating an interface to make forum styles (just like it works for the site), and I have experimented it by making a new forum style for the Talepin sections, to match the site style.

Contrary to popular belief, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs actually was not the first animated movie. The first movie was El Apostol, an Argentinian film released in 1917. Hi! I'm Skulblaka_Shur'tugal, one of the mods for The Princess and the Frog Source. I was curious this past week as to how many DVDs the movie has sold. This is what I found.

I found that, as of March 28, 2010, the DVD sales totaled 2,373,663, the 12th best-selling DVD of 2010. It raked in $39,153,445 (US dollars). Note that this is only a count for the American release, and only for the DVD, not for the Blu-Ray.

I watched the DVD myself, and I cannot complain. It's a must-buy, if you haven't already.

I occasionally check up on Talespin stuff on e-bay. There is the usual games or VHS videos. I found two interesting items on e-bay today that I have never or rarely seen.

I have only seen a picture of this toy plane that Don Karnage flew. This is a large toy plane not the little McDonald Happy Meal toys that I see on Ebay all the time.

I have added a new "Partners" section (in the left menu), which aims at giving direct access to other Talespin-related fansites as well as improving the site popularity/webranking.

Our first partner is "Cloudkicker's Message Board", which is another Talespin active forum that I suggest you to visit :)

I have also corrected a bug with the "Comics/books" link in the left menu that would stay "New" even after visiting it. Now you'll only have to visit it once again and the "New" should disappear.

Following our line of "What the heck are they doing", Disney has announced they will be closing down the ImageMovers Digital studios that they had opened 3 years ago. This studio only produced one film : the very recent "A Christmas Carol", who "only" generated 300M$ internationally (yes, nowadays, that's not enough...)

I have never been a real fan of Zemeckis' "undead/Resident Evil"-like characters, but it always seem a strange decision to close a studio after the release of only ONE film.
The studio will produce another film before it's closed though : Mars Needs Moms, which [...]

- Recently I was talking about the cancelled "King of elves" and "Snow Queen" at Disney. Well one of the previously announced Pixar project, "Newt", seems to be cancelled too. Which makes us wondering even more : what's going on out there?

Right, this is the first Fan News posted on ADGTHS ever. I want to firstly announce that I will start working on a brand new lay-out for this site. The current one is not so appealing.
